And the effects last 9x longer than the event for both. So, if you spend 10 minutes petting your dog, you'll feel the physiological benefits for 90 minutes. The dog will, too. That's why there are therapy dogs for patients in hospitals, particularly the terminally ill, children, senior citizens, and those going through severe, traumatic injuries like burns, major surgeries, etc. That's also why there are reading dogs. The kids spend time with the dog, playing with them, petting them, etc., and they then read to them. They are substantially more relaxed once the reading starts, and their success rates are proven to increase. And now a meme:  |
