I think that's because the character didn't come across as "Look at me kickin' ass and I'm a GIRL." She just went out and did it like it's no big thing. I think that's what I liked most about this movie.
Precisely. As I put it in another thread, Wonder Woman isn't a hero because she's a woman, nor is she a hero in spite of being a woman. She's a hero who just so happens to be a woman. |

They kind of made the whole Amazon society like that. Something that I've always like about how Black Widow was depicted in the Avengers movies. Yes she is every inch a bomb shell, but she uses her femininity as an asset. She doesn't fight like a man, so you lose sight of any "girl-power" connotations that might arise. Same thing with Wonder Woman. |

A lot of men were fans of female comic book heroines long before they were gender icons. Nerds have always been more mature than the elites who make magazines and societal pressures like stereotypes and standards of beauty etc. ... Wait, I just stereotyped nerds. Oh well. I should get a pass, since mainstream society is culturally appropriating nerd awesomeness like it was their idea that girls can do stuff.   |
