No need. And yes, I am very familiar with that tragedy.
That was not a tragedy, it was progress

Yep, guilty as charged! I used to play (and code) games which were stored on AUDIO CASSETTES! Yes, audio cassette using BASIC and Machine Code programming. I had a Sinclair ZX80 microcomputer then the ZX81 which had a 16k expansion memory pack (as in just 16 kilobytes). That meant I had 48 kilobytes of memory to code and store a program/game. When you loaded games from the cassette player you daren't move or breathe near it as the vibrations would cause the loading process to fail! The Internet back then was still just a sort of governmental experiment named ARPANET I think

Aye those were the days! Then we got advanced and Sinclair developed the Spectrum range of computers and they created the MicroDrive which was basically a Dictaphone cassette player that measured about 2.5x2.5x1in in size and loaded data about 4 times faster. But boy if you had one you thought you were a Tech God. Funny story: I was a rascal in my youth and I used to go to my local electrical retail store and "program" their display computers with a looping program called a "For and Next Loop". It caused the computer to appear to be loading a game (I'd choose the latest game out) and if anyone pressed a key to activate the "game" it would restart the computer and begin the fake loading process. There would be dozens of kids stood waiting for a game that would never load....and worse the shop staff would have to shoo the kids away then have to switch the computer off to flush the program out of it's system! None of the kids noticed the cassette player was open and had no data cassette installed Ok back to memes!

The first games I remember playing were on a PlayStation. Twisted Metal 2, Spiro, Crash Bandicoot, and a couple others that I can't remember now.

First game system my family had was the Intellivision, then the Atari 2600; got a ton of mileage oit of that system. Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Genesis....that was the good stuff. Give me a Playstation 4 controller and I'll fumble with it, give me a 4-arrow keypad and an A and B button and I'll rule the world, LOL.

This was our first computer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenith_Z-89 which my father and I build in our basement. And by "built" I mean "we bought the kit, which consisted of all the boards, chips, resistors, etc. that all had to be soldered together, then assembled, and hopefully you didn't mix up the stripe colors on a couple of resistors and fry something." But it actually worked. Was fun helping my dad dig through all the chips, resistors, parts, etc. trying to find the one with the right number of pins, or a particular combination of stripes in the right order. Kind of like digging through Legos, except everything was metal and sharper. Good quality time with my dad.
