I just wish that wasn't what so many women thought was their only kind of option to cosplay. Sad  Imagine how great she'd look in a proper uniform as credible as the kind a man would wear.  Properly tailored, of course, but a truly serious costume that speaks of power.

She has done plenty of cosplay other than Power Girl......

More female cosplayers.

I have no idea who these people are, but the costumes are stunningly awesome.  The twi'lek one must have taken forever!

...who is essentially identical in physical terms (close enough to be her decoy in TPM), and I couldn't find her any more attractive.

It's a funny thing, attraction.

Funny story. Knightly played the Queen's double when Amidala and Padme are on screen at the same time. Grin (At least that's what I heard.)

Still my favorite GIF of Aubrey Plaza:

I thought we already did her.

All I did was ask who she was....she came into the thread calling me all kinds of names and crap.  I wish I had screen capped it..I found it amusing.

That sucks you had a bad experience. It has always been mine that there are two sides to every story, and I try to suspend judgment until I've heard the other side. You may have just caught her on a bad day, or she mistook you for someone else. Only you and her know what was really happening.

I just wish that wasn't what so many women thought was their only kind of option to cosplay. Sad  Imagine how great she'd look in a proper uniform as credible as the kind a man would wear.  Properly tailored, of course, but a truly serious costume that speaks of power.

I view it as a double edged sword. On one side, it's cliché and demeaning towards women. On the flip side, I think it shows intelligence and resourcefulness for a woman to utilize what she has, in the physical sense. In the evolutionary scheme of things, a woman that can easily attract men has the pick of the litter for a desirable mate. It has been my observation that a woman can utilize her sexuality to far greater effect than a man can.

What I'm displeased with is that it seems that the comic industry just can't conceive of an female character that isn't overly sexually influenced. All the guy-heroes seem to have a easy time going into battle fully clothed. Sure their ripped to the nines and still wearing skin-tight outfits, but they are still fully covered.
Kinda like this:

Ok getting back on track.

Paula Patton

Even when I saw this

I thought, "Holy shell. Way too hot for an Orc."

The first time I ever saw her was on some awards show with Douchebag McDumbass. One look at him and I knew beyond any doubt, he was gonna screw up the best thing that ever happened to him. (NAILED IT)

On the cosplayer note:

Miss Sinister (don't know her name beyond that). But I particularly love how she can go from this:

To this:

Or this:

Her gender swaps are not overly sexed. She's just true to form.

PS: LR, this is your first mystery woman.

Nice!  She even looks like she's been in battle with the way she's done her makeup.  That's what Commander Shepard is all about: the phrase "credible threat" comes to mind.  Glad to see the cosplayer is able to portray such a variety of characters.

I know, I don't necessarily like the costume for the normal male reasons. However, I do agree that she would look much better in a properly fitting costume that wasn't busting at the seams. True beauty is women who don't show everything off just to get a boyfriend or to get attention.

or to get attention.

I disagree. Beauty is all about attention. What would be the point of beauty if no one paid attention to it? Some women do such things because they are proud of their bodies and wish to show them off. Whether they bought them, busted their ass at the gym, or were just blessed naturally.

There is something to be said about women who use their bodies for attention, I don't think they need to, but let's not get too into it. A pretty woman, attractive, sexy woman, will be noticed regardless of what she wears, but what she wears usually determines how a man will see/view/approach her.

I get that and I agree with it to an extent. However, what I was getting at (and what I think Grewowl was trying to say) is that when a person dresses up in cosplay SOLELY for the purpose of gaining attention, when there is no other motivation behind it such as love of or respect for the character they are cosplaying, it's a pathetic thing and really has no business being there. A lot of the blame for that kind of con-goer falls squarely on the shoulders of the bigger cons anyway. In an attempt to make things bigger and better year after year, the big cons bring in more and more celebrities and "professional" cosplayers. Now, I have nothing against the professional cosplayers (except Jessica Nigri, as she's a gigantic fraud) or the celebrities, but along with that, the cons start focusing less on the geek core and more on "more hot chicks." The end result is that you see things like painted on costumes, costumes that leave very little to the imagination, and people who are not geeks and never will be geeks (seriously, I had a jewelry salesperson tell me that at a con) pushing their non-geek products at a con simply because they paid for the booth. Or you get another lovely bit of what-the-fudgery in seeing a booth with PORN STARS advertising their wares and giving people (fully-clothed) lapdances with CHILDREN running around nearby.

Crap like this is why I will not go to the bigger cons like SDCC or NYCC. It's too commercialized and oft-times inappropriate.
