Nintendo is releasing a miniature NES with 30 built-in games

Launches in November for $59.99

Nintendo is bringing back the NES — only a little smaller.

Today the company announced what it's calling the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition. It looks just like a NES, only a lot tinier, and it comes with 30 games built in. You can connect it to your TV via a HDMI cable, and it also includes a controller designed to work just like the iconic rectangular NES gamepad. (The new controller will also connect to a Wii Remote, so that you can use it to play Virtual Console games on a Wii or Wii U.)

In addition to HDMI support and a lack of cartridges, the new mini-console also features one useful modern convenience: multiple suspend points, so that you won't have to fumble around with passwords when you start playing a game again. The NES Classic Edition will be available on November 11th for $59.99.

Here's the complete list of games:
•Balloon Fight
•Bubble Bobble
•Castlevania
•Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
•Donkey Kong
•Donkey Kong Jr.
•Double Dragon II: The Revenge
•Dr. Mario
•Excitebike
•Final Fantasy
•Galaga
•Ghosts'N Goblins
•Gradius
•Ice Climber
•Kid Icarus
•Kirby's Adventure
•Mario Bros.
•Mega Man 2
•Metroid
•Ninja Gaiden
•Pac-Man
•Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
•StarTropics
•Super C
•Super Mario Bros.
•Super Mario Bros. 2
•Super Mario Bros. 3
•Tecmo Bowl
•The Legend of Zelda
•Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

I hope it will also have the ability to save your progress for games like Castlevania, Mario, and so on.

I want.

@Landen: the article says it will support multiple suspend (save) points, so I'd say the answer is yes.

Wow hoo!

That's what I get for not reading the article. That's also my second woo hoo of the day. Sitting on my couch binge watching The Clone Wars must be releasing my inner Homer Simpson.

Anyway, have a point SFD.

I was talking to my friends at work who are into gaming and we all think this looks wonderful.  I can't wait until they're available for pre-order so I can reserve one.  Grin

I am SUPER excited about this!  Metroid is one my favorite games ever and I love all the old school Castlevanias, too!  I remember getting so ticked off at Kid Icarus when I was younger.  Maybe I'll have better luck with it this time around.  Wink

Seriously! With save points I'll finally be able to beat games I never did.

So this release inspired me to dig through my old stuff . . .

Oh.  Yeah.

Now I'm playing with Power!!!  Wink

The Lady is taking the Princess to her family's beach house this weekend . . . I'm staying here with the Husky . . . I foresee Beer, Chinese Food and an old school Nintendo Marathon . . .

. . . now what was the Contra Code again?

No - don't tell me . . . I got it.

Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A B A Start

Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind! It's just that. Just kind.

yeah I had the Power glove too.  May Friends were all like "YOU GOT THE POWER GLOVE??!!!!  LUCKY what it like?"   Me: "REALLLLLLLLLLLLY hard to use!"   stopped tying to it and just made a bottle rocket launcher out of it instead.

OMG - if I ever felt guilty about hounding my parents to buy me something - it was that thing!  In hindsight - it's shocking Nintendo actually had the stones to release it considering how bad it was . . .

I should use it to make one of those coffee table picture books:  "100 Uses for a Power Glove".
