Coruscant, The Works:
On a clear day, looking northwest across The Works from a debris-strewn room in the circular crown of the LiMerge Building, Darth Maul could just see the elegant centermost spire of the Jedi Temple, poking above the horizon.
The young Zabrak had made a habit of climbing to the crown at least once a day and, with electronoculars in hand, gazing at the distant spire in the hope of catching sight of a Jedi.
But that hadn't happened.
One day, the 9 year old had asked his Master why he was kept away from the outside world all the time and he wanted to see the Jedi for himself.
Another reason so was because he had spent his entire life in isolation.
Sidious laughed. "You, Maul, want to go out there?" He asked pointing out of the window.
Maul turned his head back to Sidious and nodded.
Sidious only chuckled.
"Why, Maul. You know why we can't show ourselves to the galaxy…"
"You want to go outside? Why, Darth Maul
Look at you, a weak full little rodent
Still a little sapling, just a sprout
You know why we stay up in this tower
That's right, to keep you safe and sound, Apprentice."

Sidious then strangled the nine-year-old in a Force choke.
"Maul…don't EVER ask to leave this facility AGAIN!"
Maul could only cry and whimper as he nodded.
Sidious then released his apprentice as he finished his little melded in joy.
"Don't forget it
You'll regret it
