6 movies & Rogue one. That's all folks....

« on: September 20, 2016, 09:39:54 PM »

Hi everyone, Set about making a belt for my new Sith Costume(work in progress).

Wanted to try out something simpler than my eventual creation. So here it is.

Based it around the idea of linking 3 leather belts, after laying them out I thought perhaps a diagonal positioning of the buckles might look good.

Used other strips of belt leather each with 6 fastenings, two for each belt

Bought a rotating leather punch for making the holes (turned out to be a dud so I took it back to the shop. Guess what second also a dud so I persevered using the dud & many hours later had all the holes I needed. Next one I buy I will spend a decent amount. Some things just don't come cheap) Sewed a loop to each belt to stop flapping pare belt.

So here are some pics please tell me what you think... added covertecs & food capsules because .. well they just belong there Smiley

Wicked Darth Acervus!

That looks very menacing, yet simple.  I like that.

Thanks for your kind comments my friends.
As I said this was test of a simpler design. To see if I could work with the materials & fixings. I hope to start on a more ambitious design at some point. I certainly did learn a great deal from this & hope to put that knowledge to use.
There really is no substitute for experience. Even on a small scale such as this Smiley

Hmm seismic charges ehh you should know better than to give sith destructive ideas medwyn lol :p

Agreed, I like the staggered buckels. It adds a little something to the design.

Thanks Benji. In such a simple design its difficult to make much that stands out and I hoped the staggering would do just that.  Smiley

I'm liking it more and more actually Tongue I say wear the buckles in the back and then put the capsules on that end of the belt. Pouches are now needed too. Definitely different for sure

Thank you Zren Smiley  Funny you should say that. My original idea was to do just that.
After completing the belt I did indeed turn it round to have a look & show the wife(she thought it looked better buckles front).
I still think it could work either way, although I would probably include a sewn roll of soft black leather to cover the buckles in this configuration(possibly a little velcro will suffice if sewing it would make removal difficult)
Have a cylindrical (hard)black leather accessories pouch(some kind of makeup holder apparently)which I have liberated from my step-daughters bedroom(doesn't seem to be in use so I will put it to one, kind of reminds me of the shape stormtroopers ware but smooth)
Of course this has now all taken a back seat to other projects, but is one for the future.

Excellent work on the belt.  The diagonal buckles definitely add a bit of visual interest.  Smiley

Thanks scifidude. all the comments I receive spur me on & make the blister I got on my hand from rotating back & forth (as opposed to the simply punching) the holes worth it .  Grin
