Here are my boots that I worked out for my Jedi costume.  These are "Funtasma" brand Jedi boots from Amazon.com.  These are made of very fine "pleather" (ha, ha) so I used the method shared on Rebel Legion's cosplay forum, here: http://www.forum.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32789

applying a high quality artistic liquitex acrylic paint with great "binding" capability to make them better looking Jedi boots with a more authentic leather/weathered look.

They turned out much better than I could have hoped they would, and I thought they were "okay" before, but now I'm really just jumping up and down waiting for my Jedi costume to be finished because these look so authentic now.  If you're reading this, let me know what you think:

*BEFORE* - out of the box from Amazon.com:

*AFTER* - Applying with a natural sea sponge a 70/30 mix of Liquitex Burnt Umber/Black acrylic paints, and then highlighting the high parts with a reddish Liquitex Burnt Sienna.

...and there's more.  Here is my Jedi belt made by AEthereal Designs on Etsy:

...and my Jedi pouches for the above belt made by LightSideLeather on Etsy:

I have the Jedi Cloak that was previously made for me years ago, and now I have the Jedi food capsules, the Jedi Tunic, Obi and Tabards in the making, so as soon as it's all finished, I will post pictures here!  Can't wait!   Roll Eyes

Very nice.  I've seen those boots and others by that company on Amazon.  They definitely have a great worn look thanks to your mods.  The belt looks fantastic.

I may look into these boots on down the road, as I like the straps a lot.  They add a nice element of visual interest, and some characters in SW have straps on their boots.  Anyway, I have a question regarding the shin guard pieces, which you obviously removed on yours.  How were they attached?  Were they just held on by the straps, or did you have to do a bit of cutting?  How difficult were they to remove?

Just curious because, as I said, I've seen these boots before.

Edit: never mind, I just found my answers in the reviews on Amazon.  Wink

Very nice. Never even considered doing that to those style of boots before until now. I know my next project once were all good and moved in and stuff =] Didn't know you could take the flap out either. And yeah those are basically Anakin's boots

Yeah, it worked surprisingly well, and I had resolved to "settle" for how they looked out of the box, but then I started reading advice from the Rebel Legion forum and found this method from someone who had already successfully done it.   My wife helped me so I could wear them and bend at my ankle and toes while she did the sponging and highlighting because a guy would have to be double jointed to be able to twist and bend wearing the boots while trying to dab and sponge paint around the sides and back of the boots.  So I highly recommend you get a helper to do it.

They magically become more like Obi Wans boots once you remove the spats, so you really are getting two boots in one, if I decide to do a "darker" Anakin style Jedi costume.

Probably why they called those boots Walker boots then Tongue If you don't want the 2 top straps though, can those be easily removed or not really?

They're sewn into the side seam of the boot, so you'd probably have to cut them off.  I just realized after looking at some pics online that indeed Obi Wan's boots only have the single bottom strap.

Wouldn't you then have to then re-sew where you cut the straps at or not really?
