My family and I want to go to the Texas Ren Fest this year and try out the camping. Anyone else going? Maybe we could meet up.
Words of Wisdom from an old hat at TRF camping:
1. Get there early to get a decent spot.
2. Put your ice chest in your tent when you're not at the site or when you go to bed.
3. Lock up your tent with a small lock through the zipper eyes.
4. Do NOT bring your sabers with you unless you have a place to lock them up.
5. A Zodi hot shower and a shower tent is your best friend.
6. If you can hold it that long, wait to poop until you're inside the festival itself. The porta potties can get down right nasty.
7. Hand sanitizer is your friend.
8. Ground fires are not permitted, last I checked. You need a fire pit. You may be able to get away with a ground fire if it's properly enclosed, though.
9. Bring your own firewood and ice. There's a little shoppette on the campgrounds that sells them, but they price gouge like crazy and always run out.
10. Don't camp near the drum circle fire pit if you want a good night's sleep.
11. There is a family camping area that is quieter than the main grounds, but it's further away from the festival itself. Take your pick on which way you want to go.
I'll post more as I think of them.
