How cool would it be if US had a katana type design. Maybe not a katana exactly but one with a tsuba(handgaurd) in they style of the samurai. I haven't really seen any Lightsaber katanas...idk just thought i'd be pretty cool, pretty looking, and great to duel with! What do you guys think?  |

I love the idea, and have been trying to work through some concepts for a little while now. Don't see why it wouldnt be doable, but a little challenging, certainly.

I just feel like it would be a superior dueling hilt with great stability! |

There's somebody out there who makes one already, (don't know who, wouldn't say even if I did because of the rules) because I've seen Darth Nonymous use one in some of his TPLA videos. Hopefully, Ultra Sabes will make one in the near-ish future.  Though, a few people around here have added those kind of hand guards to Ultra Sabers. |

I know of a company that does it but I had a few too many bad experiences with them...now I'm here lol. But I want an US made Katana style hilt...it would be so awesome!! |

Maybe a hilt based of the black saber from Star Wars the Clone Wars. I always liked that saber. It even sounded completely different and awesome. But yeah, a katana style hilt would be pretty sweet.  |

lightsabers based on those seen in Star Wars: Rebels would fit this style. Kanan's hilt has essentially a tsuba, while Ahsoka's hilts are roughly the length and shape of a katana hilt. As well as being slightly curved and not cylinders.

Honestly, I think this will happen eventually. I've seen more of a movement towards katana-styled hilts lately, and Ultrasabers is pretty good at sensing those trends as well. With different active groups that are stirring up interest in martial arts as well as lightsaber dueling, it's only a matter of time before we get something from US.

So true, we can only hope! Honestly, I think this will happen eventually. I've seen more of a movement towards katana-styled hilts lately, and Ultrasabers is pretty good at sensing those trends as well. With different active groups that are stirring up interest in martial arts as well as lightsaber dueling, it's only a matter of time before we get something from US.
That would be amazing if they did release a katana or something like it, theres a need and a demand for it. |

The Obsidian V4 sound board comes with a sound font called Ancient Saber. I think it's based on that. |

Especially after this year's TSL champion won the tournament with an extra-long hilt with 40" blade and handguard. I've seen at least one smith add a long, slim, guarded hilt to their lineup. While I can't see US making any slim hilts without sacrificing MHS compatability, a guarded emitter shouldn't be an issue for an upcoming design. |

Hi Kouri,
I also heard comments that competitors weren't happy bout "him" winning with that saber and there are talks about changing the rules for the tournament to regulate hilt lengths (if this is the same tournament and winner I'm thinking of ).
And I know of TWO smiths that offer Katana style hilts. One is based on a real hard steel replica.
