Hey guys, so I have been wondering what everybody's favorite Christmas song might be. So here you can let us all know. I am not sure if this has been done before, but since it is that time of year once again, I thought I'd ask.
So what I am going to ask you to do if you want to let us know, is to tell what your favorite Christmas song is, and a brief explanation as to why. Nothing spectacular, just a simple reason as to why it might be your favorite.
Here is mine.
What Child Is This. I like this song mostly because of it's simplicity, and beauty. But also I love to tune, and that it came from Greensleeves. I just find that it is a very beautiful song, and that there are very few singers that can mess it up. If not this song, than maybe I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas. This is probably because I love winter and the snow, and could not imagine a Christmas with out it.
So what is your favorite song or songs?

My favourite has to be "The Wassail Song". It's just catchy, and denotes camaraderie (forced or otherwise...lol).
This is a tricky topic though Taegin. It skates right along the line of the "No Religion" rule.
I prefer the ones that are more pagan rooted anyway though...

I know, that is why I worded in the way I did. Not asking anything about Religion, and just a brief description about why. I also am not excluding any songs that are about Christmas. If someone thinks this is getting into the "No Religion" too much, we can quit, but it was not meant to be anything like that. Just a place where people can tell what their favorite song for this time of year is. @Rapine: I can understand why you would like this song. It is definitely catchy. @Jev: I don't think I have heard those ones, by the name, they sound like they might not be quite my style. Still cool though. @Jedihunter: I haven't heard their Mary Did You Know, but I just recently heard their The Little Drummer Boy, and I really liked it. When groups or single people sing song completely with out instruments, I find it really cool to hear how they make all the sounds, and I try to figure them all out. Great choices everyone.

My favorite "jolly" Christmas song:
Christmas is All Around by Bill Nighy aka Billy Mack from the movie "Love Actually":
I feel it in my fingers I feel it in my toes Christmas is all around me And so the feeling grows
It's written in the wind It's everywhere I go So if you really love Christmas C'mon and let it snow
You know I love Christmas I always will My mind's made up The way that I feel
There's no beginning There'll be no end Cause on Christmas You can depend
You gave your presents to me And I gave mine to you I need Santa beside me In everything I do
You know I love Christmas I always will My mind's made up The way that I feel
There's no beginning There'll be no end Cause on Christmas You can depend
Cause on…
My favorite "sentimental" Christmas song:
"Lord of the Dance" by Blackmore's Night...
I danced in the morning when the world had begun I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth At Bethlehem I had my birth
Dance, dance, wherever you may be I am the lord of the dance, said he And I lead you all, wherever you may be And I lead you all in the dance, said he
'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free. 'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be. And when we find ourselves in the place just right, 'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
Dance, dance, wherever you may be I am the lord of the dance, said he And I lead you all, wherever you may be And I lead you all in the dance, said he
When true simplicity is gained, To bow and to bend we shall not be ashamed. To turn, turn will be our delight, 'Till by turning, turning we come round right.
Dance, dance, wherever you may be I am the lord of the dance, said he And I lead you all, wherever you may be And I lead you all in the dance, said he
I danced in the morning when the world had begun I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth At Bethlehem I had my birth
Dance, dance, wherever you may be I am the lord of the dance, said he And I lead you all, wherever you may be And I lead you all in the dance, said he
Dance, dance, wherever you may be I am the lord of the dance, said he And I lead you all, wherever you may be And I lead you all in the dance, said he

Merry F*cking Christmas- Mr. Garrison. I think it's hilarious, especially the way it pokes fun at people who really think like that.

When I first heard it I thought it was "nice", but the public has literally killed that song since then by playing far, far too much and with far, far too many "versions". I know the same might be said about other Christmas songs, but some are more of an open canvas for that sort of repetition and variation, at least that's my opinion. You're right on this one, I can't bear to listen to it anymore.
