Perhaps with Denis Villeneuve directing?

Yes, please!   Grin

Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind! It's just that. Just kind.

Yeah, they've been talking about this again lately.  It will be interesting to see what they do with it.  I personally like the 1984 cult classic film.  But, I also haven't read the book.  (funny, given that I own it, I really need to read it)

I would so love to see this happen.  Dune is one of my all time favorite books and I loved the movie (1984).  It was super cheesy but the cast was great.

Well, if LotR is any indication, a properly motivated producer with the right support (financial and otherwise) can make a faithful adaptation of any story.

Funny since LOTR was far from faithful

Indeed.  Few film adaptations of books are.

If they made a truly faithful adaptation of LotR and included everything that was in the books, The Fellowship of the Ring alone would have been a series of 10 films that were 3+ hours in length. I don't care how excited you are for the film, you aren't gonna sit through all of that.

Yeah, they drastically sped up the pacing and left a lot of stuff out of the LOTR films.  I don't imagine they need to do that with Dune, though.  Wink

Yes they would, Dune is a long and detailed book.  The problem with the 1984 theatrical movie is that it is far too short, it is a must to watch the expanded version.  I personally love the books and the 1984 movie.  I even have the soundtrack to the movie as well as I love the music from it (written by Toto!)
