So, I dropped off the face of the forum for a while, but that was because I had a case of EVERYTHING IS BROKEN. The beginning of which is noted in the posts above. So, computer is fixed, camera has been recalled and replaced, printer is still moody but it works, I still have crappy internet, and I still need to put the transmission in my car.

FEAR NOT! For I shall post pictures sometime soon! I really wish my internet was more forgiving of that.

Project Zero: Arm Guards.

Once upon a time on the forum, I posted that I had turned peewee soccer shin guards into Star Warsish looking arm guards. I did not, however, post pictures. Those pictures have now been uploaded to the internet from my potato phone for your viewing pleasure. This project was really super simple.

1.   Bought shin guards for about $5.


2.   Removed company logo with a cotton ball and nail polish remover.


3.   Colored the edge with a silver sharpie.


4.   Colored the raised design with a gold sharpie.


5.   Done.

I thought about coloring the middle as well but I eventually decided that less was better.

Third Project: B1 Battle Droid

This is most of what I’ve got so far.


The hips are done (not pictured here) and I’ve started working on the legs. Eventually, I’m going to replace all the major joins with PVC pipes making this more a 6 ft. tall action figure and less of a statue. This file is not a perfect replica, but it’s a start.

It sure happens to all of us, it seems, once in a while. I was away for about 3 months, too, and was glad to get back here again just a month ago. Welcome back and looking forward to seeing more of the craft you do so well.

That is incredible!  How many points of articulation will it have?

I don’t know. The dream is for it to be able to pull off storage mode, but reality will tell in time. For the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees, I’m thinking about an interlocking tooth design. I’m still thinking about the hands. It will still need a display stand of some sort, but I think the articulation will make it a bit more interactive. Basically if I could get it to do anything in this picture I would call it good.

I have learned an important lesson about not having a workshop and using resin. In an area that is consistently wet or windy, getting tired of waiting on the weather and saying “Screw it, it’s not wet.” is a bad idea. Holding down freshly resin coated items so they don’t blow away is not fun.
