Hello All,
I just made my first UltraPurchase a Menace CE - fully loaded. I live near Boston up in the great north east. I have spent quite a bit of time with swords mostly in modern and historical fencing. I train and teach German Longsword and I have put a bit of time in to Kendo as well. Back in the day I choreographed stage combat and was a professional wrestler for a time. I am hoping to find both a stage combat and full speed combat group in my area. I am also just a giant nerd and I have a nice collection of star wars signatures, I am a panelist at Comic cons and we speak about social issues and how they are reflected in comic books. I also participate in a weekly podcast about comics. Dungeons and dragons is what started me down this path and I have never left I still GM on a fairly regular basis and enjoy the RP side of the Star Wars universe as well. I can't wait for my new saber to arrive so I can strike down some lesser folk in my neighborhood who do not yet know the power of the dark side.

Welcome, I too like medieval warfare and weaponry. This forum has its own RP if you want to join. I am currently working on getting everything I need in order to join, and am very excited about it. Do you prefer Dark Side points over Light Side points? I would assume so because of your last sentence, but I'll make sure anyways.

Welcome! Great choice with the Menace Always good to have more folks around with real weapons experience. You'll likely know already the Menace won't be anything like your longsword! A wrestler, huh? I imagine you've got some cool road stories - would love to hear them sometime! |

Hello All!
Thank you for the warm welcome. As soon as I receive the Menace there will be pics and my review video as well. I do have some crazy wrestling stories and I am more than willing to share =) I was hoping to have my saber already but apparently it has been delayed, something having to do with the winter raffle. I stare longingly at my front porch for a few minutes every day waiting for it to be delivered!

Hello, Volcanotrout. Welcome to this great community. Any skills you can share will be warmly received and appreciated. We love to help each other around here, whenever possible. The Menace CE is one I've had my eye on for a while. Looking forward to seeing how you've configured yours and hearing your thoughts on it. It seems like an especially fun one to configure. Your experience is impressive, and the swordplay and fencing skills must really crossover well into lightsaber dueling. My 17 year old son wants to get into fencing, and struggling to know where to start. I'm thinking online instructional videos might be a good place to start until we find a school he could join.
Boston is a great city. My daughter lives there and loves it dearly, and we've visited there twice and have always loved the culture and atmosphere there. Great vibes.
Anyway, welcome, to you again. Glad you're with us. Have a -1 point for the nice introduction.

I appreciate your posting on my intro thread. Great suggestions about slow motion video!
You have some amazing experiences and interests! I look forward to reading more of your posts. I am thinking about attending a HEMA event this year. I'm a total novice, but I've been watching YouTube videos on German longsword training by a gentleman in Poland (The Sword's Path). I definitely want to hear some of your stories and advice.
I wish you luck in finding a combat group in your area! Maybe you can be the founder for a new one and find some recruits from the Saberforum!
I'm in Texas, but I'm looking for a workshop/weekend training class. I've seen some impressive classes like the The Force Academy in Singapore.
There are separate threads for Dueling and Artistry that you may be interested in and would also benefit from your input.
Congratulations on your Menace purchase! I'm confident it will be worth the wait!
