I leave my batteries to charge for an hour or two then I put them back in the saber and turn the saber on only for the saber to turn off seconds later. Am I doing something wrong?

Possibly, but it's tough to tell without more information.

Are you using the right kind of batteries? Some make the mistake of getting li-ion batteries, but they switch to alkaline once those batteries go dead. The alkaline you not be enough to power your saber.
Did you get the charger from US?
Are you putting the batteries in correctly? The lights should be red when they are drained and green when they're full. If you put them in and the lights immediately go green, they're in upside down.
Are you waiting for the lights to go green instead of relying on the clock?

If you can answer those, it might help get you the solution.

Either that or one (or both) Li-Ion batteries are dead, meaning un-chargeable. That happens if you leave them without a charge for an extended period of time. Then you need either a charger which revives those batteries (e.g. the VC4 or VP4 from XTar) or a 9V block and "shock" the dead cell until it charges again.

However, I agree with Landen - check all the things first, then tell us what you found out. That will help us to solve the problem!

Yep. That's step 2 after doing all the other things. I think the saber is relatively new, but that doesn't necessarily mean the batteries are.

I got the charger and the li-ion batteries from US. They gave me a X-Tar MC2 charger and no matter which way I put the batteries no lights come on..

You may have a bad charger or cord. Try another USB cord, wall cube, etc. I had this happen with my first charger of the same type. A new cord fixed it, I contacted US, and they sent me a new one.

Another dumb question. Are you using an outlet that needs a light switch to turn it on?

I only have what they gave me.

If I remember correctly, the charger pack has a USB slot, and the cord is attached to the power cube that pulls into the wall, meaning the entire charger is 2 pieces.

Do you have any other cords with a USB end that can plug into the charger and wall? If so, try one of those. They're all pretty standard, so any one should get the job done.

Also, did you see my question that I edited into my previous post?

I saw it and yes I do have one of those outlets which is already on. I do not have any other USB cords though. I am probably going to order the better VC2 charger.

That's not a bad idea. I upgraded to a VC4 (it has 4 slots for batteries), but US doesn't sell that.

Contact US to see what they can do for you. I got a replacement charger for nothing when that happened to me.

I contacted them and tried everything they told me to try with each one not working. They are sending me a new charger and batteries.
