I'm working on making a tonfa and was looking for recommendations on which hilt would work well for the base.  I had been thinking of an Aeon v4 but was looking for some feedback on what might work better.  My other thought was a Standard Issue as the base.

I'd get a hilt that is as smooth as possible. By that I mean as few choke points as possible. A tonfa just doesn't really need them, so it would just look out of place, in my opinion. The SI would work well, maybe also a Liberator.

Other ones that might look good:

Dominix/Aeon v2 or v3
Arbiter
Raven (without the claws)
Shock

Yeah, was thinking about the smoother looking hilts because I'm probably going to be making at least a partial shroud as well as adding the side handle.  Had considered the Aeon V4 because it thought the choke point on it might make a good spot to mount the other grip.

I was thinking you'd mount the tsuka (handle/grip) where the switch is. I'd extend the wires up the tsuka and mount the switch on the top of it. Thats what I had pictured in my head, anyway.

The Aeon doesn't have a very wide choke point, though. A Sentinel is much better if that's what you're looking to use to attach it.

That makes a lot of sense and probably easier than drilling all new holes.  It'll really depend on what I end up using as the base saber, but definitely keeping that in mind.  Thanks for the input
