Now I wonder if it will be disqualified. It was always meant to be a multi-part episode intro to She-Ra, but the powers that be decided to put it together and release it theatrically, which they did in Limited release on March 22, 1985. The a Month later premiered it in its parts to begin the She-Ra series.
As long as it was released theatrically, even if it was a limited release, then it is eligible. You do love your He-man don't you.

Twas the franchise that began my love of fantasy, swords and powerful heroes. Never will apologize for it :p Not alone either since they are still making figures and merch for it.

Oh, that wasn't a criticism, just a casual observation. For me, my love of fantasy began with movies like Beast Master, Hawk the Slayer, Conan the Barbarian and Krull Theatrical releases only? No DTV? OK, here goes.

Some nice picks there. Sorry to exclude DTV. Maybe I'll use that for another top 11 topic.

He-Man Lead me to those others, then in 5th grade I discovered Lord of the Rings and it was set. Been toying with a story idea for years that is basically a cross of Conan+LOTR+Yojimbo

Interesting. I got into LOTR when I was 12 or 13 (not sure what age that would be in terms of school grade in America). But saw those movies when I was 7 or 8.

I was 11 when I read LOTR (12 or 13 is 6 or 7th grade. ) I was 5 when I got into he-man (born in 83 so I missed its initial run) but I saw Conan (the destroyer first) when I was 8 and beastmaster, Kull and a bunch others throughout my childhood. Although, with my current knowledge it is hard for me to watch Beastmaster

Like you I got into He-man when I was 5, but it was the movies that turned me onto fantasy. What knowledge makes Beastmaster hard for you to watch? BTW - I forgot to add Legend to the list of fantasy movies. I was always enamoured with Tim Curry's make-up

The Black paint they used on the Tiger gave it respiratory problems and it died not long after filming

Really? I never knew that. Although, the last time I saw that movie was maybe 20 years ago. It used to be repeated on tv from time, but not anymore. It's probably for the best. The first time i watched Hawk the Slayer I thought it was cool upon cool. The last time I watched it, about 10 years after the first time, I thought it was awful and it ruined the happy nostalgic feeling I had for the movie. Beastmaster would probably be the same (but not for the reason you just mentioned).

A bit different than the film but I liked it, it was very Hercules and Xena like. In the later seasons Marc Singer himself joins the show as a mentor showing Dar his destiny.
