If you are asking for an order, my suggestion woukd be:
1- Jaws
2- The Sixth Sense
3- Poltergeist
4- The Ring
4- Shaun of the Dead
6- The Grudge
7- Arachnophobia
8- The Others
9- Eight Legged Freaks
10- Night of the Comet
This is not to say the ones lower on the list are bad. It's more a matter of giving you a well rounded experience of the horror genre.
Thanks. I was leaning towards Jaws for the horror genre test already. As for the one you added, it's 18A, apparently very graphically violent. Also read that the impact of all the blood is lessened because of a comedic feel. |

Yeah, Shaun of the Dead is very graphically violent, but man is it funny (provided you get British dry humor... not everyone does). Arachnophobia is very atmospherically scary, with some humor thrown in. Eight Legged Freaks is hilarious with some scary moments thrown in. It's actually an homage to the sci-fi horror monsters of the 1950's and 1960's, where people were terrified of nuclear radiation and toxic waste creating monstrosities. Plus, it's got both Kari Wuhrer and Scarlett Johannsson. |

I don't remember Scarlett. I do remember the damn dirt bike in the spidercave scene. It's also a really cool design, even if those things aren't noticed.
