Scored a new hatchet today...and a sharpening puck/stone: Husqvarna. It reviewed well, and appears very solid...a forever tool? Whatever. Split wood = check.

Husqvarna. It reviewed well, and appears very solid...a forever tool? Looks like it should be, a bit like my sweeping broom. I've had it for twenty years, only needed to replace the handle five times and the head about 9 times but it's lasted two decades. Husqvarna make some pretty good chainsaws too.

My wife scored a Husqvarna sewing machine from a Goodwill a few years ago, and that thing is a beast. The company makes a high-grade product and has a really good reputation for a reason.

I had an axe I loved for years, it split green oak like butter. I don't know who made it, and I changed the handle four or five times. but I lost it on a camping trip, more specifically it walked aeay out of the back of my truck in the night.

Haha point. But so true about Husky chainsaws. Very good quality. I had an axe I loved for years, it split green oak like butter. I don't know who made it, and I changed the handle four or five times. but I lost it on a camping trip, more specifically it walked aeay out of the back of my truck in the night.
That sucks. I've never been super attached to an axe, but I have used a few good ones, and they are nice.

I can understand that. I haven't had enough tools of my own to get attached to though.

I have a set of pliers that an EOD gave me after he showed me how to diffuse an IED and it's something special to me

I have an Ax that was passed down from my great grandfather. He, my Grandfather, my father and I have all add little things to it. My G Grandfather had to bend it back to shape after it got warped (no one knows how it got warped though). My Grandfather had to grind the edge much shorter because he hit an hidden nail that was imbedded in a log he was splitting. My dad widened the socket so he could fit a thicker handle into it and I added a bit of weight on the back end. Needless to say it no longer resembles the ax my G Grandfather bought... but its almost 200 years old and it will split wood like a lightsaber.

I'm guessing you are a fan of the UK comedy "Only Fools and Horses" to get that broom joke! A relative of mine is a Tree Surgeon and taught me a few things about chainsaws and how to use them.
