Diamond Questions

I want to put this in my Graflex 2.0 kit, but for that I only really want blue. If I was going to get a Diamond board I'd want it in a hilt that would go with every color (like a sentinel V4). I'm gonna have to make some decisions...but they'll all include a Diamond board I'm sure. That gradient ignition and the new sound types are worth it to me in a Graflex. The color change is super worth it for a hilt like the sentinel. Now I just have to wait for US to have sabers on sale...

I sat through a much longer, frankly rambling video with but one question in mind, probably the most obvious and important question, and it was never answered. So yeah... But I'm glad it was eventually answered.

Bummer this comes out a few weeks after I ordered not one but two emerald obsidian v4 ultrasabers.

That's tough. Especially since the Diamond is only $30 more.

You know, I watched that video and did not notice that it was yellow. That blue is so light on there I thought it was the same color. You can definitely see it on the power down though. Thanks for that and I guess the question is answered. Still not sure why they don't list on the fly color switching as a feature on the list though. Seems like a major oversight in marketing to me. Will be ordering a Diamond Shock very soon.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've been wondering about it as well ever since the question was asked. That will be really fun to play with. (not like I'm getting one anytime soon, but still.)

What about upgrading an existing saber that has Emerald and Obsidian v4 up to Diamond?  Can that be done "relatively" cheaply, or would it be more cost effective to just get a new saber?

Thanks Taegin. I thought it was time. Ithekto, they usually do offer something like that at a discount, but the discount is often not that big. It cost 320 to upgrade my Archon to Emerald when that came out.

Well, yes you have to go into the computer to set-up the font/color specifics. However, once you sit down and get everything set-up, you should have 10 different colors paired to 9 different fonts and the mute mode. That matches the swapping abilities of any other guys. It's the old apple to windows argument. Apple is out of the box ready to go but you get what you get, windows-supported manufacturers give you more flexibility but you have to spend some time with it.

This is my question as well.

I'm very interested in Diamond, greater control over dynamic lighting effects alone would be enough to get me quite excited, and this sounds like all the things I've wanted and more. I've got some tax refund money coming, and while buying complete new hilts is a bit too much for me to spend, I'd be prepared to spend a decent chunk of change to upgrade a pair of hilts that I already have. I need to send one of them in for repairs anyway, and getting it back with such a greatly enhanced set of features would be like receiving a new saber!

Can someone explain the process of removing/re-inserting the driver into the blade? Or is the USB connector somehow accessible so you can hook it into your computer without taking it out...?

If it is like the Emerald and Obsidian boards, the driver is on the battery pack inside the hilt.  You access it by taking off the pommel, and getting the battery pack out far enough to access the USB port (Mini for the Emerald and Obsidian boards, Micro for the Diamond).    There is no external USB ports on the outside of the hilt.   You have to take off the pommel and get the battery pack out to access it.

The pictures of the board show this to be the case. The micro USB is on the board, so you will have to pull it out to connect it. Mine will be here on Monday though, so I can take a picture for you if you like.

Another thing to note, the micro USB on the diamond is significantly better than the old mini USB on the obsidian. On the obsidian it would sometimes not acknowledge the connection the first, or second times and you had to unplug and reconnect until the launcher finally recognized it.
On the Diamond Ive had nothing but 100% successful connections on the first plug in.
