Here at Lightspeed Saber League, we have a few different games/exercises we use to train particular skills. Our perennial training game, Rule of Two, is a variation of King of the Hill which emphasizes defensive skills and responses. It's a lot funner than regular KotH, imho.

The games my group play are very open area. Fields parks buildings. Objective based and it creates a good context of fighting, defending a person or area, working in small teams etc

Rules of other games

Here's one that I modified from a fencing drill for TPLA.  It's a fun way to practice distance!

Yes! I know this one as "Glove game." We'd leave all the gear off and hold a fencing glove in our hand and b-slap eachother silly. I love that one. We still do it once in awhile, though mostly with beginners.

What I'd really like, actually, is a "glove game" but with lateral movements rather than linear. It's something I personally don't have a lot of training in so would love to have something that emphasizes that. Anything in your reportoire, Nero?

You got it!  It's the glove game I use to emphasize distance control with my team.  They can always use more practice with the concept, that's for sure.

I agree though, a second version with lateral movements is something that would be extremely helpful.  I've been working on a few different ideas for a second Makashi Velocity (to follow up on this one), so I'll definitely take your idea into account!

My group is 3 main Fighters and we all use different weapons.  Every now and then we all try eachother weapon. Style and see how we fair against the "pro". Recently we all started using a single 24 inch saber then Trade partners fast after a kill shot. It gets very intense very fast

That's great. Pushing people to step away from what they normally do. We pretty much all use a standard single blade setup but have one that's similar in idea called Spooky Sparring (because we first did it on Halloween). Put all your people's names in a mask, then pair up two people for a short match, and have each of them draw a name at random. They have to mimic the style of the person they drew. After it's over, everyone guesses who was who, and you go again. Lots of opportunities to make fun of eachother's styles XD

I'm about  to build my own personal portable "Pell".

IMHO EVERY saber practitioner should include a "Pell" in their training regimen.

Just released a video for our version of "glove game" or what I think TPLA called "Contentious Opportunity?" Hope you like it.

Recently actually been getting a chance to practise blaster bolt deflection using nerf guns for blasters. So that's pretty fun.
