It does seem a little different than the Emerald. The Emerald Immediately lights up to full brightness. It looks to me that the Diamond takes a second to get fully lit.
On Emerald it was instant full brightness. On Diamond, it can be instant or gradual, however you choose it. If you edit the PowerOn effect you can make it instant, fade, flicker, whatever you want...
