I'm surprised there's no sticky for the Obsidian issues with Windows 10 and/or USB 3.
Both have been out long enough that many users will have only these options in their home. I played librarian with the search function to find a potential solution, which involves buying a $6 USB 2.0 hub. If this is, in fact, a solution (I'll know for sure when it arrives on Monday), can we sticky it?
I tried Run as Admin and various other jank, but it all works about 5 percent of the time. Marius had a great post about it in the threat at
http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=34710.0 . I'm hoping the USB 2 hub solves the issue with my machine recognizing the saber!

Unfortunately Windows is not very good at keeping compatibility throughout versions. When we developed Obsidian, Windows XP was the norm and Windows7 "the new thing". The drivers that worked perfectly fine on Windows7 sometimes behave erratically on Windows10. Here are some things that you could try:
- Run the Launcher as administrator
- Always make sure the board is turned on when you plug in the USB cable
- Make sure the cable is in good condition and fully inserted into the board's USB connector
- Unplug the board, wait 10 seconds then plug it to a different USB port
- Use an USB2 port, not USB3
- Use an USB2 hub if only USB3 is available on your computer
- Disconnect the board, turn it off, turn it on again and reconnect
- Apply a hard reset (that is: take out the batteries, leave the board unpowered for 10 seconds, then power it on again)
