Hey all! So, I've got a question about how the Electrum Wind it works for the following reason. I'm planning on getting a Consular with a Dark violet Amethyst (+silver flash on clash) diode and quick disconnects, because I've already got a consular green diode with silver flash on clash leftover from my archon which isn't in use, since I installed a different, custom LED, so I could just with the DVA LED for the green one with no problem and have a cool new DVA. Now, my idea was to use this DVA on my (also) future Electrum Wind (not sure if I'll get the Consular or the Electrum Wind first, doesn't really matter), so I would basically order the Electrum wind in VA and be able to switch it around with the DVA as I saw fit. However, i did notice that the Electrum Wind does not offer quick disconnects to be installed.

Now, I don't have a problem with installing them myself as long as the internals are accessible enough. I assume QDs are not offered because the EW is not a modular hilt (in the sense that it doesn't have an MHS emitter that you can jus unscrew to reveal the LED), so it would be "difficult" to access the LED. However, I think I can recall someone taking apart the whole EW hilt, separating it into different sleeves and a single, silver tube as the base for the hilt. By taking the EW apart like this, would it be easy to access the LED module to instal quick disconnects and change around the LEDs? Probably not change the LEDs easily on the go due to the hassle of taking it apart, but time isn't really of the essence here.

So in summary, my question for you is, can you easily access the LED and instal quick disconnects on an Electrum Wind by taking the hilt apart? And, if I e-mail US, do you think they could offer installing QDs despite the LED not being easily accessed unless the hilt is taken apart? As I said before, I don't mind installing them myself, but that would save a lot of time XD

Thanks in advance!

The construction on the Electrum Wind isn't difficult at all, neither is deconstructing one.  The main "meat" of the hilt is just a tube, that's what contains all of the internals.  To disassemble it, all you have to do is heat up the glue that holds the switch in and take out the switch.  Then snip the wires and you should then have enough play to take the battery pack, sound setup, etc. out of the pommel end.  Then snip the wires going to your LED and the sound setup comes right out.  After that, the LED module, which is a standard US 1" OD LED heat sink, like you see in Initiates, Aeons, Sentinels, Prophecies, etc. slides right out of the emitter end.  You don't even have to take off the little emitter to take out the LED.

The only think complex in the EW construction is the shrouded outer part, none of which really needs to be removed in order to access the internals.  Smiley

Perfect, thank you scifiduede! That is very encouraging to know! I was also planning to change the switch for a gold one to match the rest of the saber, so I can just do the QDs and changing the switch at the same time.

Points! =)
