Obsidian V4 not connecting

I just got my first Obsidian V4 saber today. It is great besides the fact I can't connect to my computer. I have the Emerald driver as well and that connects, but not the Obsidian V4 board. I have Windows 10 with USB 2.0 and 3.0 slots. I heard you just need to put it into a USB 2.0 slot and it should work. The 3.0 doesn't download the driver at all. No response. The 2.0 downloads the driver, but it doesn't do it correctly I guess? It says that it has failed to start. Any ideas/help?

Make sure you're running the program as administrator. It can still be hit or miss, but without running as administrator, you will not get it to work under Windows 10

I know this may sound stupid, but make sure your saber is on try unplugging the USB and back in again. Sometimes it doesn't activate right off. Be sure to follow Therion's advice first.

The other posters' advice is good, although when I had the same issue, the fix was to buy a USB 2.0 adapter for my PC, which only uses USB 3.0.

The Obsidian driver hates USB 3.0, but you can purchase an adapter online for less than $10. I've had no issues after buying one. Good luck!

All good advice, but also make sure you don't plug it in when it's off! The saber must be on when you plug it in, otherwise you may get that error message. Made the same experience (with Win 7), and it worked after I de-installed the driver and went through the connection process again.

Basic rule: Always start with the simple solutions first, and eliminate them as you go.

Some good basic things said above, and I'll add that there are two USBs on your battery pack, one for the Emerald Driver and another for the Obsidian V4 soundboard. Make sure you're using the right one.
