I bought Logan on 4K today and on the second disc you get the 'noir' version of the film, which usually I wouldn't be down for and would always take colour over but as Logan references old movies and has a very dark, moody tone, the black and white fits perfectly and honestly adds something (imo).

Anyway, it got me to thinking about Matt Reeves' comments about The Batman and how he wants it to be inspired by the film noir era of the 40's and 50's and how he wants Batman to be much more of a detective than he's usually depicted as in the big screen.

While I think this is a really great idea and a new direction to take Batman to take it away from Nolan's vision (and just how much I'd LOVE to see a Batman movie released in b&w), I was wondering what villain would go best with this new tone? If he's going to be using elements of film noir and if Batman's going to be showing off more of his detective skills, doesn't that eliminate certain villains already?

What villain do you think would suit a 40's/50's-style detective Batman movie?

The Riddler.

Not the wacky Joker-clone done by Jim Carrey or the psychotic dude from Gotham, but the dapper, gentlemanly Riddler seen in Batman: The Animated Series.

Yes, either Riddler or Penguin.

I actually think Hush might fit the style perfectly - really good story and character.

I always forget about Hush, because he is not a villain you hear a lot about, but I agree with him too.

Hush, Riddler, or just go back to the original Gangster villains.

I am all for getting a character who hasn't been seen on the big screen yet. My vote goes to Hush.
