You may not recognize me because of the tartan arm

I thought I had the tool for the job, we call them allen keys over here, so I said no thanks at checkout. I'd seen a video where Emory says 5/64th and I have one, possibly an old vid? Or simply different scales on opposite sides of the Atlantic? Tomato tomato.

Not to worry. Older gentleman neighbour has every conceivable tool this side of the Outer Rim. So off I trot, saber in hand.

Me: "Hi Steven, you don't happen to have a 5/64th allen key do you?"

Steven: "I do. What is that?"

Me "A lightsaber"

Steven:

He tries his allen key but it doesn't fit.

Steven "Did you order it from America or something?"

Me: "Yeah"

Steven: "It must be Imperial"

Ha Ha !!  Grin

Next time c3p don't be a Scottish kilt... by cheaping out on your saber order.  Multiiple correct size allen keys save a pile of irritation and challenges... such as where did I put that silly thing.  And it won't wear down the retention screw head hole.  Also get extra Li-ION batteries if you use them. My own findings are that the 2 millimeter wrench works as well it's a 0,04 millimeter difference if you calculate it, shouldn't cause to much trouble

I'm pretty sure they are a 5/64th. I believe a 2mm should work as well. Make sure your buddy gave you the correct size. It is very hard to see sizes when you get under 5/32 with the naked eye. Let us know.

Yeah video said 5/64. went through my whole bunch. Neighbour knew what 5/64th was and didn't fit. I bought one at the hardware store that said 5/64th. No luck. I'm putting it down the differences either side of the pond.

Currently using a T20 which works not too bad.

Which saber do you have?  Some of them use a larger Allen wrench.

I just went and double checked mine. It is 5/64th, works for both Initiate V4 and Sentinel V4, and USA label on allen. It may be a different size screw for the saber. If it is, it would be nice for US to clarify if some allens only work with certain sabers. Which hilt do you have?

Graflex and Guardian. Both the same size of screw.

Ah, I feared as much, those have bigger screws.  9/64 is the wrench you need.  (same as the Covertec screws)  That's why 5/64 isn't working for you.

Thanks scifidude. That explains that. I was bursting to get the blades out. I had a few shots with blades in, was ready for round 2 in daylight with blades out and the sun was disappearing fast. A tad embarrassing to admit it but I was genuinely frustrated. I soooo wanted to post pics of them. I should switch to yoga or something.

This should be a sticky. 9/64ths and 5/64ths should be the only allens needed, then?

The smart thing to always do is pay that extra dollar or so for the correct allen wrenches that match each saber.  I got 2 with my Bellicose.  One was the regular size for the set screws and the other size I would have had to investigate as was for the removable slanted emitter.  Smiley  As said before, these and extra Li-ION batteries are a should no must have.  Smiley
