So a while back while Googling Star Wars stuff I came across an illustration of Luke Skywalker with two sabers, one with a short red saber (EU). And decided I would base a Cosplay off of this. The only two illustrations I have found with the shoto saber really didn't have much detail other then the red blade and that Luke used it to fight Dark Lady Lumiya and her lightwip. I already had a Apprentice with lite sound, BR blade, and AS FOC so decided to use that as the base and try to make it look like something Luke would have. So wanted to make it look like a cousin to Luke's ROTJ saber. Grabbed a smaller Archon style pommel and some O-rings from TCSS, found some triangle rings on Amazon, and some painted from the hobby store. I painted the angles of the choked hold black and the thin part of the choke hold with gold flake paint and clear coated the area. The O-rings where added to mimic the groved section of the Archon. And the last part was doing holes in the pommel and adding the triangle ring, thought this part would be easy but it wasn't. A couple band-aids later and all was done. Tx that is awesome! I've always been a fan of Luke's 2nd saber (the Archon v3 is a close analog; I modded mine with a Graflex clamp and circuit board and it's pretty close to the movie prop) but your shoto is perfect! Excellent mod designs; I think I would love to get a shoto like that  Thanks for sharing Tx! |

Nicely done! I'm actually working my way through the Legacy of the Force series again myself, and it gave me the idea to add a shoto saber to my costume for Halloween/TLJ premiere. And as luck would have it, my grab bag hilt was a dark apprentice, just like my second mystery box (that had sound), so I now have a full size Orange saber and an arctic blue shoto saber. Haven't customized the hilts on these in any way, though I might have to.

Sorry, just seeing this. On the Apprentice I have a 24 inch blade, the Archon is a 36 inch. I originally got a 16 inch fit the shoto but thought it was too short for my liking. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk |
