actually I wasn't the one who cracked any ribs or made gashes, it was at a event I went to and there were two wild guys with saber forge sabers that were going bat shell swinging like crazy, and yes they got kicked out after the damage from that fight. I broke my friends knuckle on a fluke, I was defending myself from his swing trying to make me lose my grip on the blade and it back fired on him and I just got a whack in the nuts, but that was when we first started training with sabers, now we are much better on our safety when dueling...... and I did scare a guy away that got into my shed looking for scrap metal, pretty sure he was high or drunk because he thought my bellicose was real.

I've been in mass duels where ribs were cracked, but that was from elbows and knees, not sabers.

yeah I didn't see it happened but all who weren't hurt said it was the Jedi with the Umbrella T-shirts and swore it was that of their sabers, I know it can do damage to a knuckle, but unless the saber and or blade was modified I can't see it gashing anyone, and the rib thing with ultra heavy grade it can bust a knuckle so I can kinda believe it can crack a rib, but I have had a blade thrust in the chest and it knocked the air out of my and the blade didn't break so I was confused. Does Saber Forge have different blades? because I know for a fact the one of the two had a Storm trooper hilt and as far as I know Saber Forge only makes that.

I haven't paid much attention to SF, but I believe that Randomsabers use different blades, even in their LED sabers.

Me and my two buddies were the only ones at the event with Ultra sabers hilts, all other were from other makers of a mass collection of Hasbro, But my Prophecy's and Bellicose are the only sabers I have (Atm) that I would take into a battle without knowing my enemies, Ultra sabers are great and strong enough to handle abuse in a Air soft Star Wars Game

two words simple words to prevent injury. "BODY ARMOR" there are many different styles available and work nicely incorporated into your costumes.  Gloves/gauntlets , shin, forearm, elbow and chest gear. http://www.centurymartialarts.com/Sparring_Gear/Martial_Armor.aspx  http://www.centurymartialarts.com/Sparring_Gear/P2_Sparring_Gear/P2_Chest_Guard.aspx (these are some of the cool ones out there) Not to mention groin and mouth protection.  As for the Thrusting, as was mentioned before it IS part of sword play...so should be used.
