So some of you might have seen Ultra's post on my custom Raven:
http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=3565.0But here is my review of the saber.
Length:
I ordered it with the SS claws (go big or go home, right?). With the claws on the saber, it is massive. However, the length it not an issue at all. The saber is very comfortable to hold and duel with. The longer claws really help the balance point when using the saber in a reverse grip.
In order from top to bottom:
MR Qui Gon replica
Ultra Raven
Converted MR FX Anakin
Ultra Bellicose
Ultra Dark Apprentice
Weight:
A lot lighter than I expected it to be. I don't have a scale that I could use, but a my reference point is my converted Anakin ROTS. The are, surprisingly, about the same weight.
Construction:
The claws a mounted very securely and are not going anywhere. The saber itself is 3 pieces. There is the pommel, blade holder, and the saber body. Because the body of the saber is one piece, it is incredibly sturdy and does not feel like it is going to break during a duel.
Obsidian:
The board is fantastic. I can go on and on, covering everything that other people have stated, but I don't wanna.
What I will comment on is the Flash On Clash feature. It is really interesting, and I wan't sold on it at first. I was expecting the flash to be white, but I was surprised when it was yellow! But after a while I warmed up to it a little bit. The blade lock up and blaster block kind of give me a headache if left on too long.
All in all, the board is fantastic, and the FOC option really adds a new dimension to the whole saber.
On:
Yellow!?
Color (Anodizing):
I LOVE the anodizing that Ultra does. The black really glows, and the silver really brings out the glow.
Customizations:
Ultra build this saber for me, so I had some special features added
I had ultra put in an in-hilt recharge system. I didn't know if he was going to put it in the saber, or have access to it outside. He surprised me by putting on a combined illuminated switch/recharge port activation box. The switch is an illuminated red AV switch. The whole feature really makes the saber look like the saber of a Sith High Lord.
All in all, this is the best saber I have ever owned. It is perfect for One-Handed, Two-Handed, or Reverse grip. My overall grade, out of 10 is a 9.5 The saber is solid and will never let me down in battle. The only reason I took off half a point is because I am not thrilled with the yellow FOC.
Saber family, all on!
