I wanted to do a saber based off of my Cockatoo (yeah I know, I’m a dork) This is Gavin
And this is Gavin’s Bite. I went with an Aeon v2 in Fire Orange to mimic his crest color, I was surprised how close it truly was.
Here is a boring pic of the unmodified saber from a lineup pic I took a while back.
I did emitter windows on this, tho I hate to say I didn’t do the drilling myself. I wanted the windows done on a drill press, and I don’t currently have access to one :/ I measured out where I wanted the windows and handed it off to my Dad for drilling.
For the handle I wanted to mimic the look/texture of a parrot’s feet. I wanted to do a leather wrap out of some artificial ray skin I found at Tandy, but decided I didn’t want to buy an entire hide for such a small piece. I went instead with Rust-Oleum Hammered Black. This isn’t actually black but is dark grey with swirls of black and a pitted texture.
I also made a crystal blade plug to mimic the shape of his erect crest.

And here is the final product
I think when I finally get a bit of extra income I will send it out to get the Aurebesh professionally etched on.
