So far from the Super Bowl Teaser and today's longer Trailer it's looking and sounding really good to me. Seems like they're trying to go more "Smuggler Crew" ensemble crew though ala Firefly or similar shows. Haven't looked much into the director or actors yet, but the story seems to be all the points fans would want. I'm optimistic.

That shot of the Star Destroyer coming out of the nebula or whatever it is looks pretty amazing. |

I am not sure the ship at the end is actually the Falcon. If it is, it was before modifications were made... It has no top-side sensor dish, and there gap in the forward area ... isn't there.
I suppose it could be the Falcon, though. The YT-1300 is modular, and changing the hull form would make sense for a smuggler. :-)

Exactly. I don't think it has been for sure confirmed to be the Falcon, but I do think that if it is, Han modifies it. A lot.

I recently got a chance to read the "owner's manual" book for the YT-1300 freighter and even though it was decanonized it showed how much Han (illegally) modified the ship to make it a force to be reckoned with. Kinda hope some of that material makes it into the movie, chances look good.

Exactly. I am pretty sure he greatly upgraded the hyper drive, for example, or his famous "Kessel Run" wouldn't be such a big deal. And the ship could maneuver with TIE fighters and X-Wings on a nearly equal footing, acting like a heavy fighter instead of a freighter. That would take some huge boosting of the ship's engines. |

So the count stands at just over 2 months till release date and somehow it seems like even with the trailer making the internet rounds that Disney hasn't really been throwing the marketing budget into full effect. The posters for it have finally arrived at my local movie theater along with this wonderful beauty:  But I haven't seen the trailer put in front of any movies yet. Anybody actually seen the trailer played in your theater? Maybe I'm just going to movies that aren't related genre-wise. |

Glad to hear someone saw it. If I remember correctly it was 6 weeks before TLJ came out that I was able to purchase my tix... scratch that, according to my email it was October 10th, over 2 months before release date. I can't imagine Solo will get quite as much hype but I'd expect tickets to be on sale soon. I would recommend signing up for an email notification through a ticket site like Fandango, for instance. Then you get the notification the same day they go live. Super convenient. |

I'll still watch it, and give it a chance, but like I do with many things, I expect the worse. Then I can only be pleasantly surprised. I hope this movie is good, but I won't get my expectations up. |
