RIP Dolores O'Riordan, 1/15/2018.

The Cranberries lead singer Dolores O’Riordan has died aged 46. Her publicist confirmed the news in a statement which read: ‘The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time. ‘Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.’

I'm quite saddened by this. Another band from my childhood, though I didn't seriously start getting into and appreciating their music until a few years ago.... I still remember hearing them on the radio as a youngster and thinking Zombie was a badass song... Dolores is among my favorite female vocalists.

I'm not quite two years older than her and was in college when they were popular. I had both CDs (Yes, CDs; as in the whole albums with every song. Yes, albums.  ) Even with all their success, The Cranberries were still underappreciated in the U.S. in my view. It was nothing for me to be driving down the road and belting out those songs back in the day. I know it probably doesn't matter now, and there's no good way to say this, but I hope nothing awful happened to cause this.

They sadly were quite underappreciated here. They had the talent but other less talented bands from the UK *cough* Oasis *cough* were more popular.

This article just posted today.  Don't know if anyone saw it, but they played Zombie in the stadium during the NFC playoff game at Philly.
