Has anybody tried using two 18650s to run a saber with Obsidian sound? Since it would still be 7.4V, my understanding is it would just allow for a longer run time than the stock 14500s. Obviously the trick is getting them to fit, but if one could, it should work, right?

My general guess is 'Yes, it should work.'
But as you wrote, replacing the 14500s with 18650s might become a major case of cram-fu (if it works at all)...

I've wondered about using four 14500s in a series/parallel setup to get more runtime, especially for a stunt. Though again, it's primarily a question of can it be crammed. Secondarily is the question of will the buckpuck be able to handle it.

If I remember my theory correctly, having two 3.7v cells in each branch of a parallel circuit gives you a 7.4v potential with half the current of using one set of two 3.7v cells being pushed by each half... but a bad battery (or a good one that fails) can cause huge issues if the protection boards aren't up to dealing with it.

Also had the thought that a pair of 25500s would probably be easier to cram than a pair of 18650s cause they're the same length as the 14500s we have now... but I think most of this type of cell has been discontinued.

And if a pair of 18650s fit, then why not a pair of 26650s or 32650s? Diameter would be the limiting factor if the 18650s work in the first place.

If you can fit them, yes. Sadly US's boards are freaking huge.
