We don't really have a lot of complicated rules around here, just some common sense stuff. Please post an acknowledgement after reading this.

General Guideline - Out of courtesy and respect for our hard work, please e-mail us first if you have any problems with our products or services and give us a chance to make things right before posting about it here.  It really grinds my gears to see complaints posted before we get a chance to remedy the situation.  We are extremely accommodating, and will likely exceed your expectations of service if you give us a chance.  If we fail to remedy the issue quickly, then by all means, post about it.

***************************************************

Rule #1. Be nice to each other
This is a very laid back, friendly kind of place, we want everyone to feel welcome.

Rule #2 - No advertising
This is a forum run and owned by Ultra Sabers; it is our home.  Please respect our home by not advertising other stores here.  Exceptions can be made for sites like Amazon, Radio Shack, and other general parts suppliers.  I'll even let you advertise some of your own services, like costume construction, on a case by case basis if you approve it with me first.

Rule #3 - No mentions of competitors
As mentioned above, this is a forum run and owned by Ultra Sabers; it is our home.  Please respect our home by not mentioning by name other lightsaber companies out there. If you need to mention them or their products in a thread, simply write "the other guys". Everyone will know who you are referring to.

Rule #4 - ALWAYS be polite, respectful and courteous
This is not a G rated site, you have to be at least 13 to join. Yes, just like the last Star Wars movie, this site is PG-13. As such, we give a little lee-way to colorful language, but I expect members to be adult enough to use colorful language where appropriate just as you would in real life situations.  Post the same way you would talk to a room full of strangers in real life.  If you swear like a sailor to strangers, then don't even bother posting here, you will not be welcome.
Some words are filtered out automatically on the forum for a reason, so trying to get around the filter is essentially trying to bypass the rules of the forum - don't do it.

This includes staying on topic in a thread, remember, hijacking a thread can be seen as disrespectful.

Disrespecting the staff here will not be tolerated. The Elders of the forum will PM any members who step out of bounds.

Rule #5 - Do not make "Rage" posts
A rage post is usually one made in anger and its sole purpose is to convey outrage at a perceived injustice.  We do not allow these types of posts because they are harmful to the community and can quickly create a "lynch mob" type atmosphere.  We've seen posts like this snowball out of control and create huge divides in a community and we will not see the same thing happen here.  It doesn't matter if the post is about Microsoft, Sony, Blizzard or your Landlord - rage posts will simply not be allowed here.

Before you post, just think: is the purpose of your post just to argue, create strife, express outrage, whine, or "stir the pot"?  If so, don't post it. Although these things may not necessarily define what a rage post is, they're all things that can easily spiral a thread out of control and are encompassed by this rule. This is often at the discretion of the moderators.

This is not to say you cannot say anything negative! We encourage honesty and intellectual discourse in this community.  A review might not include all positive observations, there may be pros as well as cons - we understand that and that's not what we are talking about.  We are not saying you can't debate or disagree with others, either.  Mature people know the difference between a post made for honest intellectual discourse and a post made just to insight negativity in the community.

We take this rule very seriously and infractions will be dealt with swiftly.

Rule #6 - No sales on the forum

For legal liability reasons, no sales of any kind can be conducted on this forum.  If we can find a way to overcome this obstacle, we will revisit this policy.

Rule #7. No Religion, No Politics
Nothing will cause more hurt feelings and animosity in some people than a differing opinion in politics and religion.
So please, do not discuss either on this site, don't have it in your sig, do not allude to it at all - this is not the place for it.

Rule #8. Signature Sizes
Photos in signature blocks are welcome (encouraged in fact), but large ones ultimately make the forum experience clumsy and irritating for others.  As such, no signature may exceed 200 pixels in height.  Offending signatures will be addressed via PM by the Mod staff.

Ultra's original post of this rule can be found in the following thread: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=1375.0
