So I spent the better part of Sunday adding the electronics only to turn it on and end up with an expensive stunt saber  I'm pretty sure I probably have a couple bad soldering connections. I had a hell of a time using what I had. So I did some research on flux and solder last night and discovered it makes a big difference out what you use and how you use it. Ordered some new flux and solder that I think will be much easier to work with and hope to tackle it again this coming weekend. When I finally get everything finished I will start a new thread with pictures and video. Have to admit to having gotten lucky with the sound on my full builds.
But, then, I was using pre-wired cards. Just had to solder wire connections. Nothing direct to the boards

It is a big let down when you pull that kill key, and nothing happens... It's super easy to bridge two pads on a board though too. My issue was at the speaker pads, but could very easily been on the board. tx is doing the only thing he can do now...start over. O_o It totally beats a "band-aid" fix, and is the route I'd be taking too. So, good on ya tx. -1 New flux and solder will definitely help. I just went to thinner gauge wire myself - big difference. |
