I think there is a slight difference, but the main thing about the premium is that you can change the font.

Agreed.  I have both a Lite and a Premium, and when the Premium is on default they sound virtually identical.  But using the power button on the V4 you can toggle between several pre-set sounds, customize them on the computer as you see fit, and honestly the second-most-used sound font on my V4 is 'mute'.  :-)

So if you can swing it the extra flexibility is worth it.  But as I said, I have Lite cards because, well, $$$    Smiley

I have both and I can't tell the difference in the sound. That being said the light sound card does seem to have a slight flicker to the blade.
The battery set up is the biggest difference in them. The light sound have regular AAA batteries ( which can add up quickly $$) and the premium sound has lit-ion rechargeables which are great.
Now I have found that if you buy a good set of Rayovac, Energizer or Duracell rechargeable batteries they work well.
The key is to look at the mah numbers on them. For example; the 800 mah one have a longer run time than the 500 mah but I have both and they both work just fine. This helps save money on buying regular AAA's. Hope this helps. MTFBWY!

Personally I don’t hear a difference quality wise, keep in mind certain pommels can muffle sound and can change the way it sounds. Functionally I’d go for premium so you can customize the sounds or mute it (which is very handy) but if you don’t care for that then go for LITE

Sound quality wise, I've found little to no difference between the Lite and V4 soundboards.
As mentioned, the biggest advantage to the V4 board is customization/selection of fonts

If it's in your budget, I always say to go with v4 sound with a li-ion and buckpuck setup, for the reasons already mentioned. The mute option is so nice, plus you can deactivate sound fonts you don't want. I have an emerald saber that I often switch between LS and DS colors. I've deactivated all the ones I don't use and use the default Sith, mute, a Kylo Ren, and a Luke ROTJ. It makes life so much easier.
