Hey guys,

Had a Bane model Ultrasaber for a couple years now, never had this happen before. I have rechargable batteries in the pack, put them back in after a charging, popped the pack back in, screwed the pommel back on, used it, no issues. Now I can't get the battery pack back out. I've tried shaking it, slapping the bottom against my hand, against a soft surface, tried jiggling it, etc. It will not move. I even removed the emitter and tried inserting a long rod into the top to push it out, but nothing is happening. It will not move at all. The saber still works perfectly, but the pack will just not come out. Any ideas?

If you have any, get velcro like they use on the battery packs, like wrap one piece then use a single piece under that and should be able to pull the battery pack out

My first thought was that maybe the batteries had leaked and it glued them in, I've had that happen with electronics over the years. Though you say it still works fine so that probably isn't the case. Just using the process of elimination, does it smell really bad inside the hilt? Battery acid has a pretty recognizable odor. Possibly the wires are caught up on something inside, I'd be careful with trying to force it out because you don't want to separate anything.

Yeah I thought maybe that was the case too, but there's no odor, I listened, heard no hissing or anything, handle hasn't heated up, etc., and yeah, still works, so I don't think it's that. No odor of any kind inside the hilt.

Master Nero (one of our great mods) recommends using needle nose pliers in this thread: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=2950.0

I saw that US video about removing a battery pack at the end of that thread and apparently I'm mistaken as they even recommend using something skinny to push it out from the emitter end if it doesn't come out with a few simple taps. Even so, if it didn't come out by being pushed from the emitter then it certainly sounds like it's caught up.

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of... Idk what it could be caught on, but it certainly seems like something is wedged against something in there.

After browsing the other threads on battery pack problems it seems that the Velcro strap is the most common culprit. Other than that the two major remedies are "putting a towel down and tapping the pommel end of the hilt (sometimes rather violently) to get it out" and using the method of trying to push it out from the top which you've tried. Forgot to ask before, you haven't mentioned anything about sound so am I correct in assuming it's solely a battery pack that needs to come out?

If there's still no luck you might try emailing customer service, never hurts to go right to the manufacturer.  Wink

Got it resolved!

I dunno how, but out of desperation, I tried smacking it against the ground again, and for some reason it worked this time. Thanks for the advice, guys!

Upon visual inspection of the internals, it looks like one of the thicker wires had become wedged against the smaller ones when the pack was pushed in, and that is likely what had prevented the pack from moving. To prevent this in the future, I (VERY gently) used the rod from before to push the offending wire further up into the saber, toward the emitter/buttons, and away from the pack itself, so the space wasn't as crowded as it had been. Hopefully some other poor sap like myself might see this and take note lol. Glad this board exists!
