'Bout time they gave one of Marvel's best villains the royal treatment. I'd never claim to be an expert on Venom but the version in Spidey 3 was pitiful.

And even though I stopped reading during the Carnage storyline (== ages ago), this interpretation 'feels' like the Venom at that time, violent, not (yet) caring about human life, reacting on instinct...

I'm still on the fence.  Venom has seriously been misused in recent years.  Plus there's the whole separate from the Spider-Man universe thing.

I'm an old school Venom fan, not sure how I feel about this.  The characters motivations and most important story arcs are certainly going to be absent here.  Venom himself isn't an aggressor either so an over the top action movie isn't really the sort of thing I'm looking for.
