Given all the amazing creativity, talent and artistry I see here on a daily basis, I almost feel silly posting this simple $5 modification. Hopefully it can help someone else or be expanded upon. The Backstory: I am preparing for con season and looking for a way to wear one of my more "showy" sabers- the Monarch I received in a mystery box. This Saber truly is a beast, like a table leg actually. It just does not lend itself to a covertech wheel placement anywhere because of its smooth, rounded aesthetics. The wheel would ruin the overall flow and its elegant, regal appeal. Instead, I started looking at ways to attach something to the pommel. I searched around online and found no suitable options. I decided to pop the pommel in my pocket and take a field trip to the local hardware store. After several dazed minutes wandering around the screws, nut and bolt aisle, testing my spatial acuity, and sticking various metal objects into my Monarch pommel, I came across these things called Clevis Pins. After some tinkering, I found a winner!  The holes even looked identical to the holes in the pommel!   I was quickly able to find the appropriate size so the head acted as a stopper.    It can retract within the pommel.  Or hang out and look cool.   I am really happy with how it turned out, especially given the $5 price point!  |
