Even though Darth Maul's reign of power over Mandalore was brief, I pretty much fell head over heels for the red/black/gray color scheme that the Death Watch painted their armor in honor of their new leader. So I decided that I just had to make that costume. It's my first true foray into making armor for a cosplay and will push my EVA foam skills right to the limit but I am confident it's time to take my cosplays to the next level. Progress will be posted here. Made the gloves the other day:  Pistols I actually made several months ago. These were a really good test of layering EVA foam, something that I haven't had much luck with over the years. Practice makes perfect.  The beginnings of my JT-12 series jetpack. This prop is going to be a blast to make. So many different materials and angles and issues to work out.  Once I grab some thin EVA foam I can start work on the chest armor and helmet... |

So, figured out the strapping system and put it all in place. Since I no longer need to access the back of the jetpack it is now full steam ahead with adding all the foam, foamcore, and other doodads.  |

Made some great progress today. I cut out the "casing" if you will around the left fuel tube and also made both of the thruster cones for the bottom of the pack. Due to the design I have to pretty much add everything to each of the fuel tubes before I can enclose them.  |

Really been hitting this build the past few days despite the heat. Attached the thruster cones and weathered them appropriately. Also carved the cones for the top of the fuel tubes, sealed them, painted them, weathered them, boom.   Better closeup of the top of the pack. Middle tube isn't glued in yet (it'll be higher).  My boots arrived the other day so I've begun working on those. |
