I was a super lucky kid to have gotten an awesome lightsaber on Christmas day 1977, years before the inflatable yellow Kenner licensed saber. Mine was the SST Lazer Sword and it came with colored disks so it could be white, red, or a beautiful cyan blue. I got a second one a few weeks later for my birthday. I still have them, and have added a third SST, and 2 similarly constructed Force Beams ( white and Green and missing red)...and another I haven't been able to identify yet. I love these cheap beauties with all the love my 13 year old heart could make, and they are awesome !!   US gave me the exact same nostalgic rush you had !

I'm with you on this one, the retractable plastic saber was it for us. I still remember halloween as Darth Vader in probably elementary. Then Darth Maul at some point, maybe middle school. I swear I had those (even the broken ones) into my 20's. Too much fun, because you could lightly "play-spar" with them. I swear I got into a lightsaber fight in 2nd grade over who would wind up being my "girlfriend" a short time later. Guess I can thank Hasbro for aiding in my path toward the Dark Side of the Force.
