Yeah like if you run your thumb up and down you can feel the tiny grooves too but it don't bother me non, never really noticed it until now actually I think even the Standard Issue V3 saber has the tiny micro grooves too actually

I wonder if it happens when the machine needs to be cleaned or something needs to be replaced kind of like a printer running out of toner or needing service.  If so, it’s still doing a mighty fine job regardless if the weird texture which I think is still cool, better grip imo

Hm.  I didn't notice it at first because my new Prophecy is so much shinier than my old one, but yeah, it has has the grooves.  The one I bought about 5 years ago has less texture, but it does have a little bit.  The two silver sabers I have definitely have less, like they've been polished more, but they aren't totally smooth either.  Like others have said, I think it helps with the grip.
