Kyber crystal blade plug free floating (Now I see why people don't do this)

Hello all,

I was inspired by some of the awesome blade plugs people had made, but I felt the kyber crystal should be free floating so I decided to try and see if I could make one . So far my experiment has failed, but I am hopeful when the Silicone cures fully it will go clear like it did in my out of tube test.. But this is 48 hours later and its only a small amount clearer, my guess is the top layer cured and that created a protected layer that will force it to take longer to cure

This is the current result I promise all 3 of these have crystals in them

I plan on trying a few more ways but ran out of crafting budget till next week, I will keep you all updated with progress if your interested.

Great experiments, Madness.  I wonder if you can use some type of gel for the liquid to suspend the crystal? Keep us updated please.

Not a bad idea but I don't want to see the ball shapes at all, I want it to look free floating with maybe some colored smoke type effect. I have a buddy who has a an awesome workshop with more toys than me, I am going to try the stuff they make silicone molds out of and his pressure pot. But that won't happen for a few weeks, I have another idea using a casting resin but I am afraid without a pressure pot it will just be bubble filled

Hi.  I'd do a Search on this one perhaps under custom blade plugs.  Someone once posted a thread about his blade plugs.  Objects such as crystals were placed into a clear hardening liquid acrylic ?  Looked good even with some visible air bubbles.  The process was involved with multiple layers that needed to set.  The plugs required some dremel modification and trimming.

I have gone through about 10 pages of blade plug related threads and nothing related to the crystal blade plug or clear acrylic if anyone has this bookmarked please post. I am still looking but not hopeful

I can't remember the name of the product, but I remember seeing table tops that were made by pouring a clear resin into a box filled with stuff.  The result was a smooth surface with all kinds of neat 3D stuff "in" the table. 

The silicone may yet cure out, though.

Updated photos still not clear but kinda cool either way. And it's still curing, my buddy got his supplies today so we are running a test with resin tonight.
