Just a quick question. First time putting my batteries in the charger and it has the little LCD screen lit up with the guages showing the % of charge. Does that screen stay lit up all the time? Also, I pushed the little button that switches it from 1.0A to 0.5A before I knew what it was, now dont know which to set it to or if it matters. Thanks in advance.

Hey there. I Believe the screen stays on a song as its charging. Now, you want to keep t at 1 A so that it can charge quicker. 0.5 A will charge a lot longer and is more of a setting when you let it charge over night or for batteries that can’t take the higher amps

Yes, the screen stays lit up the whole time. The 0.5A/1.0A button affects charge time. 1.0 pumps in more power, charging the battery faster. However, faster isn't always better. I've charged batteries on that setting all they way up to 100%, then switched over to 0.5A and saw that they weren't quite 100%. So, I usually charge my batteries at 0.5A.

Also, that's a terrific charger. Not only will it charge 14500 and 18650 (and possibly other sizes) Li-Ion batteries, but it will charge Ni-MH and Ni-CD batteries.

If I recall correctly... it is better to use the 0.5A setting on a more routine basis to extend the battery life.  Smiley

I've always thought 0.5A was plenty fast and as far as I know is better for the batteries. I recommend having an extra set any way though.

0.5A is the way to go, as has been suggested by D7 (your memory's great Kiss Cheesy). It will indeed extend battery life and is still fast enough for charging.

just saw a video review on youtube and it showed that if you hold down the little button that changes from 1.0A to 0.5A, the charge meter backlight will shut off.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlI6rDYGj5E
