Never bubba! You guys are great! You just keep the suggestions comin, they’re always much appreciated. I’m always glad someone even cares about my posts. All are welcome, all input is good input. Especially constructive criticism, btw. Honesty is always the best policy. My tool kit for this is just in need of some beefing up. It’s trial and error at this point for me, but I’ll get it with experience , and a little(or a lot) help from my friends!!

Glad to be of any assistance... just as Drahcir and others were and are for me.  It's great when customizers willingly and eagerly share their knowledge.  Will take a pic of some of my favorite burrs and their product number this afternoon.  For me it was/is a lot of trial and error to find what burr works best for the project I am attempting to create.  But as said before there are no errors and one just goes with the flow and something often better or more interesting comes out of it.  Smiley

Would like to see a pic of the power tool you are using as that can play a huge factor in one's ability for finer detail.

People who are willing to take a perfectly clean saber and take power tools to them to make them look like they went to hell and back, have my utter respect. I commend both iamgumby001dammit & D7 for their skill and courage to go this route.

Point to both of you.

Thanks Chal, but it’s more fun than you realize! I bought some supplies today.

These are the specific ones for use today...

I took D7’s advisement and used a medium round burr to really get some sweet effects...

Clearly all my work today was at the emitter and high choke point, but it takes a great deal of hand strength, and my old hands get tired after about an hour. In any case, just an update, hope you are all sabering well!!

SWEET !!  Shocked Shocked  I love it !  Cheesy  Well done Gumby.  It looks like you don't need my assistance anymore.  Am liking most of the burrs that you bought and it's all about trying them out.  Won't need to take a pic of mine.  The high speed cutter wheel... use with caution till you see how it is on the aluminum as it may skip across a tubular surface unless you have a firm grip.  If you want even more detailing... then take the smaller round burrs and randomly chew up the insides/edges of some of the larger pitting.

The emitter area will be the hardest hit so you can ease up on the remainder of the saber.  Protect the switch area as too much frequent vibration and heat could possibly loosen the glue or worse.  This guarded switch generally is more forgiving than an av switch.

I haven't tried a flex shaft before but that rotary tool is a monster.  I mostly use Li-Ion battery in a smaller hand held Dremel.  Actually have x3 as the built in battery usually expires prior to me wanting to stop.

I know what you mean about having tired arms and hands.  The woes of being an artist lol.  Wink

creative vision point  Cool

You are all too kind! D7 please, please, PLEASE don’t stop giving input! You’re still a master, and I’m just a padawan at customizing sabers. But I’m trying.🤓

So here’s an update on what I was up to tonight. Got in late, but I managed to get some work done. My main focus was going to be away from the emitter-

As you can see I did some more work on the pommel-

But also did some detail work on the emitter as well-

The switch wasn’t spared-

Nor any general hilt body area.

The thing is, as we were discussing what would be the focus for tonight, my son said to me he thought a big crack down the side of the hilt wold be cool. First I though “genius!”, then I thought “impossible!”. But, it then struck me, why? I could do a crack. A big one! So I grabbed the cutter D7 warned me to be careful with,

And...

BOOM! Big ass scar down the side of the choke point!!!

The thing is, is, it’s still going to get a wrap. I’m thinking I’m going to have to burn or melt the part of the wrap that covers that part of the grip. But in any case, I think it came out pretty cool. Obi-Wan Wakanda, where ever you are(sleeping in his room), thank you!!

And thank you to everyone for allowing me this indulgence. It really is exciting!!🤩
