Ok after three days of playing TOR almost non stop im gonna throw some highlights out.

1) Story. makes questing awesome. If you watch the little videos and play your characters conversation consistently, the grindy feel of questing is almost non existent. even while trying to level at a furious pace this made the progression seem fast and entertaining. I even enjoyed doing a escort quest which has never happened before. Voice acting is top notch.

2) pace. Levels 1 to 10 on your starter world take a little under 6 hours watching every cinematic. Once you hit the second planet it slows down a bit. around level 15 it slows more. but it does not feel like it. while you level up less and less often you are very engaged the whole time. Getting your ship at the end of the second planet (around 18) is amazing.

3) combat. I tried 4 classes this weekend, 1 of each so I got an idea of their resources and how they played. Each has a very different feel but the combat is very immersive. I rarely noticed the gcd at all. the combat animation looks great and you feel like your constantly doing something.

4) Pvp. only did 1 warzone and the people on our team were a bit moronic. but the game was still fun and even loosing you get a bunch of experience and valor. it is possible to pvp your way to max.

5) pve. Ran 2 flashpoints. both were amazingly fun. the first one can be done with 2 people and companions and takes a little over an hour. bosses were fun and while for the most part simple they do have early raid mechanics in them. boss charge, void zones, etc. The second flashpoint we ran the first boss stomped us for a while and we gave up a few tries in. so the challenge is there.

6) Space combat. when you get your ship, which again is awesome, You can do space missions. It is a rail shooter style mini game and I loved it. the controls are simple and the environment is amazing. flying around and blasting ships apart is something I will definitely be doing on a regular basis. also it gives you good xp.

7) Visuals. This game is no Skyrim. However the style the game is in looks very good and they pull it off. walking onto a new planet is awe inspiring. I would just stop and look around for a minute or so just because the environments were so kick ass.

Cool Professions. They nailed this. you get three professions. you can choose from 3 types. crafting, gathering and mission. You can have 1 crafting and gather or mission for the other two. It is recommended you get a gathering profession for your crafting and for all the early lvl stuff it will give you all the mats you need. Companions do all your crafting. You tell them what to do and they run off for 1-5 min and come back with new item or mats and your skill levels up. once you get a few you can really crank up your professions by having them working while you quest. you can also que up 5 crafting items, log off, come back later and they will be done. they really made it fun easy and user friendly.

9) Grouping. We noticed very early that it is very easy to group to level. mixed groups are better for the most part as two of the same class can not enter a classes story zone together. its slightly annoying but not a big deal. Me and isashi were rocking a trooper and smuggler and would get all the same quests apart from story. your story lines also sent you to the same areas so we were able to quest and do our story lines with no issues what so ever. It was cool being able to watch the oter persons story and help them out. The hugs and quests are very linear but it works out very well. it doesnt feel linear due to the story chioces you make and how you decide to handle quests. for example in a quest to get recreational supplies for a town we discover they are drugs. do we destroy it, or bring it back to the quest giver? when we get to the quest giver to we give him the drugs, destroy it in his face, or keep them? each has rewards and upsides. I highly recommend partnering to level as it adds a lot. however solo leveling is also a lot of fun.

That said it is still in beta. the game is playable and looks great but there were a few bugs that cropped up that were highly annoying. hopefully they get smoothed out before launch.
if you have any questions or an area of the game i forgot to address let me know.

After reading that I really can't write that much but I have to reiterate what I said on Wraith's post.

The game is WoW but with Lightsaber's.

The biggest plus is the group conversation options.

While a better MMORPG is more welcomed than SW Galaxies..................

KOTOR 3 would have been awesome.

No doubt the game will strive, but an all inclusive RPG for consoles and PC in the vein of KOTOR would sell much better.

I can't lie that i have been upgrading my CPU the last few years but this is ridiculous. While my CPU can run the game; the game itself is not worth the monthly payment, while Guild Wars 2 is free monthly and well worth the cost of the game. (Not meaning too promote another game, This is just my feelings of what I have tested of Star Wars: That Old Republic.)

Interesting to see a couple differing viewpoints.  It's funny that quite a few people (Kham, Wraith, Artorius) who were really excited about this game are now pretty much turned off it... what a disappointment.

Myself, I'm sorta in between.  The graphical stuff is annoying - especially when they brag that this thing will run on just about any system - but to be honest most modern computers should run it as long as you tweak some settings.  Keep in mind also, and this is something I noticed, that the amount of gamers on a server GREATLY changes the choppiness of the game.  I started on a US West Coast server and had to turn down some settings to play it reasonably, then eventually tried out a German server and played no problem.

I personally enjoyed my experience, though I wish I had more time to play.  I was pretty busy yesterday and my brother left for college this morning (I was using his laptop) so I only managed to get to level 7 or so on my highest characters (Knight and Smuggler).  Nevertheless, I had a damn good time trying out a few different classes - the story feature really is a neat addition to the MMO world.  The voice acting really makes a big difference too, I think they did a great job with that.

Hey Nero, if the suns of the force doesn't have enough members you can always join the obsidian order if you want, just pm ewanhuzarmie or TJ.

I really hate the wow in space thing. Wow was an eq clone its self. Boiware took the successful elements from the mmo genera and made a great game. The game is an mmo. So the staples of the geanra will be there. you play a shooter like halo or call of duty, you expect certain things. same in an mmo. However there is a huge difference between a good game and a bad game.

This is a great mmo. Having played a lot of them this is definitely at the top of the class. Im just glad another company other than blizzard finally decided to be smart. take the great things from other games and learn from them.

I may do that!  It all depends if Artorius decides to play after all... he had some installation issues that I'm afraid may have turned him off the game.  We'll see.

I had a great time this beta. This game looks like it will be a lot of fun for all the reasons the OP stated. Question with friends was a lot more fun, but the solo questing was not that bad and I still had a blast soloing my Inquisitor to 15.

Can't wait or the game. I have been waiting since 2009, hurry up December 20th!

I had a great time with the beta also. I really enjoyed the first flash point ,it was challenging at level 9 but doable. I really liked getting the double bladed lightsaber , I was playing a Jedi Shadow. And I tried logging on this morning and it let me in so I guess I can continue on!! By the way the crystal you get for the preorder makes your saber have a black blade with a yellow glow !!! It looks amazing !!'

I was just wondering, does anybody know when the Jedi classes get a lightsaber?  I would guess it's around the same time as the Sith ones so I'm sure one of you knows.  I only got up to level 7 with my Knight so I never managed to get a saber Sad

I leveled till 10, so I could spec into Sentinel.

You get your saber during the last part of the main intro quest.

I do have to say that getting my Sentinel Yellows ingame was pretty sick.

BUT, was disappointed in the lack of "Character Appearance" options.

To make my avatar in-game look like me he would up looking like Orlando bloom and I do NOT look like that guy.

Cool, thanks for the heads up Kham.  I was just ITCHING to get mine... I didn't even make it to the advanced classes though Sad

I thought the character customization options were perfect, but that's just my thoughts.  I hate when they have 1000000 options with nose size and ear size and bla bla bla... there was enough variation in face and hair and whatnot that it made it customizable, but not overwhelming IMO.

I finished my saber quest right between levels 8 and 9. It was a great quest chain!

I literally CAN'T WAIT to play this when it's released! After this weekend, I'm 100% sure that I'm gonna play this game. Story quest is awesome, and lots of side quests makes a great way to level up and find useful items.  Graphics exceeded all expectations (everything run on highest) with no lag at all and the FPS rates were awesome, and I experienced minimal server-based lag (almost none at all actually).

I'm gonna play Sith Warrior and pick Marauder as my advanced class ^^

That's great man.  You really didn't have any server lag?  What server were you playing on?  I'm just curious because most of the North America ones I was trying were super laggy due to MASSIVE amounts of players lol
