Greetings. I'm new here, and the Butcher is my first US blade ever purchased. I do own a few "licensed" replicas, so keep that in mind as my point of reference.
First, I want to step back and assess the ordering process. The US website, FAQs, and interface answered all of my questions and made buying my saber a breeze. Bravo. I realize you guys are hobbyists and machinists, craftsmen, etc. and not necessarily web designers... So 5 stars in that regard.
Next, I'm stunned by how quickly it shipped and how well US communicated. Being it was a pre-order, I anticipated a much longer wait time. Awesome.
Now, for the blade itself. Therion's video review is awesome. Go watch that. He addresses my pros and cons. I'll definitely say this is mainly a display saber, due to the claws, weight, and size. That's perfect for my purposes. It is a thing of beauty. I opted to go with windows, which upon seeing them, despite their being cool, are a take it or leave it feature. If you want to save a few bucks, you can skip the windows.
One place you need to splurge is the lighted switch. Get the button with the lights!!! I opted for black with white lighting. Amazing. The white matches the etching details around the switch perfectly.
I was worried about buying a saber that was not "licensed," but now I couldn't be happier. I'll update you over time if anything changes, but for the time being give the blade and US two thumbs up.

Great choice for your first saber. But I had the opportunity to hold the Proto type at Dragon con and was very impressed. I agree that it’s a little bit large to be a dueling saber but I’m not sure that was the purpose of this one to begin with. And I agree you can never have too many reviews. Each person is going to feel it and appreciate it in a different way.

Pictures, or it didn't happen.  Welcome to the forum. Glad you're digging the Butcher, mine is on order. One thing with licensed replicas is that you have to worry about breaking them. However, with an Ultrasber, you can go nuts with it and not worry about breakage. So, have fun and go nuts. |
