Star Wars Jedi Challenges Dark Side Expansion

So for any of you who play Jedi Challenges, the Augmented Reality Star Wars Light Saber game, the new Dark Side expansion just launched in the App Store today. Apparently you play as Kylo Ren (Ren Saber controller sold separately, of course) and you get to fight against characters such as Rey and Yoda, as well as command Imperial armies in the strategic combat section.

No idea yet if you can play it with only they Rey Controller, or if it’s required to get the additional controller and use crossguard. Also not sure if that means any update for the Dejarik section (I would LOVE a Shah-Tezh option in the expansion).

I plan on testing it out later when I get home. Will keep things posted! Here’s the trailer below! Looks like second controller would accommodate a multiplayer mode.

Pfft Ren Controller is $99.99 for just the controller. Probably going to wait until I can get one “used” for less. Got my Jedi Challenges Set “used like new” on eBay for $78. Not about to pay more than that for a single controller....

We've got that Jedi Challenges game where I work and I really want to buy one, but my iPhone SE isn't compatible.

Oh no it doesn’t have the regular iPhone lightning USB port, or the app itself isn’t compatible?

It's not listed as being compatible on the box. I think it's due to the size of the phone. The iPhone SE I have is the one based on the iPhone 5. The smallest iPhone they have listed is the 6.

I have considered getting a different phone just to use for the app. All I have to do is get an unlocked phone, maybe evan a used one, and connect to WIFI to download the app. Though, if I go the unlocked phone route, I may also buy a compatible Samsung and swith my service over to that

I see.... I have an old 5 I can check for sizing if you’re able to download from itunes. The app itself is free. I’m almost home so I’ll check in a few

I couldn't find my old 5, but I found my old 4 and I see the issue. Screen isn't long enough to full up the entire opening, so it would be difficult to line up to view correctly in the headset... Not impossible, but extremely finicky/difficult.

I was looking at the specs on the website and they have a list of compatible phones. It's not a huge list. I'm sure more will work, they just haven't tested them.

No problem! The phone itself fits fine. Only issue I see would be the screen size in comparison to the 7 (though some they list you lose the edges of the screen because the phone is larger). I have the 7S and it's pretty much an exact fit. I would say if you know someone with a headset, download the app and see what happens. Worst case scenario, you can play the holo chess without the headset and the app is free lol.

UPDATE: I feel like the dark side expansion is too easy... I just finished the entire first encounter in about 15 minutes. The Sith training holocron is voice acted very well, but the animations for Rey and Luke are kind of neanderthal-looking... You fight Yoda, Luke, and Rey. Hopefully the second and third encounters (all with same 3 from what I can tell) will be a bit more challenging. The first Force power you get (rage) is completely OP so I've not even bothered with the others XD (you get 3 total by the time you finish the first encounter). It works just fine with the original Rey lightsaber controller. AR adds the crossguards regardless. It felt weird defeating all of them so easily...  Most difficult was Rey and honestly that's only because you also had to dodge and because her attacks sometimes shift to the side of where the predicted block is... The regular mode is significantly more difficult. I've not tried the Dark Side Strategic Combat yet. No sign of Shah-Tezh, sadly

I think I'm going to buy one anyway. We have them at Walmart for $99 and I'll get a big discount for working Thanksgiving. (25%) That's going to be the time to buy it. I can sort out the phone later. I can get an iPhone 6S for my plan, that will work.

I'm sorry to hear the expansion is disappointing so far. Is it a paid expansion or was it free? I know you said thr controller is $100.

Expansion is free. It’s literally just a normal update to the app.

Yup! Literally lost nothing. I was afraid they were going to make the Kylo controller necessity. I just wish the Challenges were a bit more....challenging lol. Maybe they’ll add more. It literally just launched yesterday.

Kylo Blade is also awkwardly long in the VR but maybe it just seems that way because I’m 5’1”.... it feels like the 40 inch.
