I know some of you were disappointed with this movie. I know some of you may have decided to give up on the Star Wars franchise completely because of this movie. However, I implore you to take a step back and watch this video as Cinema Wins breaks down all the good stuff in the movie.

No, you do not have to agree with his opinions. However, too many times recently fandom has gone very dark, tearing asunder the things we love that should bring us all together. Amd while you opinion on the movie (good or bad) is no more or less valued or relevant than any one else's, can we please just take a moment and focus on good things.

Enjoy.

Man, that's a long video. I finally had time to watch it. I actually agree with his conclusions, because I love the film. I saw it on Christmas and then couldn't wait for the Blu-Ray so I could watch it again and again.

It's ironic that I first stumbled across this channel when he was talking about the prequels. It really made me realise that while they're not good, there is still a lot of worthwhile things in them. And he has done it again with The Last Jedi. For the most part I liked the film (all except for the casino planet side-quest). And he does a fantastic job of highlighting all the good that is in the movie. I agree it's a long video (they usually clock in around 20 mins) but I think he needed that much time because this movie was so divisive.

I've never seen a Star Wars movie I didn't like, including the prequels. I lined up for TPM in 1999.

I agree on all fronts, I especially like the point about Poe and General Hux, Domhnall Gleeson plays an awesome villain who gets into the humor aspect while still being aggressive and serious. Also, the point where Luke lit up when seeing Artoo again along with the humor between himself and Rey when he was training her and asking her to feel the Force.  I also like it when he took some time and talked about toxic fans and even though he doesn't mention Kelly Marie Tran, but he did post videos of her in that time frame so kudos to him. There are a ton of other points but these were my favorite.

Point to you for finding and sharing this, Knox.

This.  To me, movies evolve through time, especially when it continues on.  A lot of people are hellbent on things being the same all the time but changes aren't necessarily bad to me and I use to hate it, but now embrace it.

If they give people what they had before (*cough* The Force Awakens) then people complain that it's been done before. If they give people something new and different (*cough* The Last Jedi) people complain that you changed thing too much from the originals. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

When I look at the Star Trek franchise, that has some amazing movies, but also some that are truly awful. And yet the fandom embraces it all, the good and the bad. Maybe, one day, Star Wars fans will begin to do the same and the fandom won't be divided or angry all the time (generalisations I know).

Agreed completely.  People will always complain whatever route that the directors and the franchise go.  There's always going to be unhappy people so I say just film and go the route that they envision.  Me, I'm along to enjoy the ride and appreciate a vision that's come to life.

I think a lot of the time (some) people complain because the movie didn't deliver what "they" wanted, rather than accepting the film for what it is.

Yeah, I don't get those people who think the movie makers should follow some formula that the viewers have in their head. So, they're supposed to be psychic now? Be realistic, people.

Heh, I've been saying that exact same thing since the complaints about TLJ started rolling in. Call it anything you want, but you can't say it's not different.

Completely agree. Stories are told from someone else point if view and they may or may not be like yours. I tend to watch it and if I dislike it, at least I have it a chance.  I also like to keep an opened mind in things

Great video, and he is exactly the kind of person I like to watch. I'd rather find a way to like something than hate it. Plus, every single "win" was a win in my book too. Actually this video helped me figure out some of the problems I had with this movie. Still don't like Rose, or the casino side-quest, or Holdo, or basically anything else I didn't like before, but I can once again look past the flaws of this movie and see the great things about it. I had lost that for a while.

It's funny. I used to love the CinemaSins channel on youtube. He focussed on movies from the past 5 years and the "sins" were funny and tongue-in-cheek. Now, maybe I've changed or maybe the channel has, but I now longer enjoy those videos. CinemaWins, with his boundless enthusiasm and endless search to find the good in movies, while still acknowledging the bad as well as accurately articulating "why" he feels the way he does, I find that far more entertaining.  Highly recommend checking out all the videos on his channel.

CinemaWins is awesome, I've been following him a long time. I too like to find the good in stuff. I've never watched any of the CinemaSins stuff. I do sometimes watch Honest Trailers, though.

Honest Trailers is great. So is How it Should Have Ended. CinemaSins though, not so much. Although you should watch their Fast and Furious videos. Those are actually hilarious.
